WHY DO I NEED MY GMRS LICENSE?
A valid FCC license is necessary to legally operate a GMRS radio. Thankfully, there are no tests required to obtain a GMRS license, they are valid for 10 years, and they cover your immediate family-regardless of age! Antennas are already tuned for GMRS typically with no tuning necessary. Yes, the mounting location matters, but that’s about it. Great job and clean install. They are superior to CB’s. You will enjoy it for sure.

Great choice and great video. I'm currently running the next one down (MXT275), may upgrade to the 40 or 50 watt version. This was my first GMRS radio so figuring out the instructions were a bit of a learning curve. I figured out how to get the closest repeater code (St. Augustine) and have been able to hit the repeater when it's on. Have only been able to make a few contacts with the radio so far, but few and far in between. We are still running a CB as well, still a lot more activity on there than GMRS, but I think it will pick up. Will have to figure out the privacy codes as well if we ever go out with a group.

It's coming so fast. One of the new trails like Ann is pretty good. Little bit off camera stuff and twisted between trees. And the night rides all look really good.

nice! I just got the Midland GMRS, but the one that is one "size" smaller than that one. It's great for my trailhawk because it uses the 12v "lighter" plug, and I have one in the center console.

That's what I always like about the presidents CBs they were small and fit in the space I have below the radio. I did not expect this GMRS to be so big.

Yes we will be using CB's currently, with the amount of trail rides going out at the same time there are more than 22 channels needed. Beyond that it gets into programming other channels.

Give us a followup on this if you can. Range, clarity, ease of use, etc. Is the top of the case vented ? Reason Im asking ia because a guy could fashion a heat shield relatively easy out of aluminum stock and then pick up some adhesive heat barrier atuff off the internet that youd use for under hokd applications. Just space it off the top of the body 1/4"-1/2" for dissipation.

Will do, what I found so far is the microphone plug sometimes comes out of the unit. Also I have to figure out how to program in the privacy channels which it's supposed to do. There seems to be a lot of chatter on the 22 channels. But it transmits very clear so far, will run a check on the next trail ride.

That's something that I've been asking for a while. Even if it was a single little switch to move back-and-forth. But basically it would be like two radios in one shell.
