Looks like a tricky retrofit project to add this wastewater tank.. Thanks for posting your video. Think about using steel plate end caps on both ends of your tank frame then bolted to the trailer frame to counter the racking forces during braking and acceleration.. Any consideration to cover the plastic tank with metal to prevent rock damage?

That is what the metal straps going front to rear are for. No I have no plans to cover the tank with metal.

Using the best quality drill possible is a good tip. The next is to sharpen or replace the bit when it has dulled. A must is to center punch the location deeply and predrill any hole larger than 1/8 " diameter with +/- 3/32" starter hole to prevent jumping and facetting (predrilling removes the larger drills thicker web mass away from your workpiece). Last use a cutting oil and safety eyewear protection. Vertical large diameter holes can be assisted by your helper with a 2x4 as a see-saw lever to push up on the drill handle. Saw a friend and dad effortless drill a car frame for a receiver hitch that way, they used a fireplace log for the fulcrum. He held the contractor 1/2" drill from rotating while the father pushed down on the 2x4 end.

It just pokes right up through the roof and then there is a vent cover on top. Nothing special.

Larry I think if someone felt the need, they could easily add some thin sheet metal in front of the tank to absorb rock hits should any ever come up. And would you use stainless bolts on this apparatus and those look like lock washers you used.

I don't use stainless bolts or screws on anything. Too much money and not really needed. But someone else may wish to spend the money. Yes I used lock washers.

Use what they call elevator bolts . They are totally flat on top and the head is about 3/4 “ of an inch in diameter. I use them on forms to leave a flat surface on concrete. You can get them in 1/4 to 3/8 thread size.

For the dump valve, since you don't have a black tank, why not just use a simple ball valve instead of that complicated double gate valve?

I used it so the owner could use a regular sewer hose to hook up to a dump station.

Larry what are you going to do for the toilet discharge?

As said in the video the toilet for this trailer is a dry toilet. It has no waste tank. It has mylar bags in it and you just throw the bags away when they are full. I had never heard of this type of toilet before this trailer. So there is no need for a black tank.

Yes your talking about supports so that not all the weight is put on the holding strap's. Nice work. As for those straps that are to long don't cut just bend them hey hang from the supports.

I've been looking for a video series like this since I bought my '66 Aladdin three years ago; thanks for posting this! Is this the max capacity you would recommend for a trailer this size? I was thinking a little larger to make boon docking a bit longer possible but don't want to compromise my trailer either.

This was the largest gray tank I could find that was under 6 inches in height. If you have more clearance you could go bigger. Just distribute the weight properly and remember that a gallon weighs about 8 pounds. So it adds up fast. Another thing you can do is have two tanks ganged together with a pipe. Install the pipe at the lowest point of both tanks.

In boating we use odder free sanitation hose with stainless hose clamps, could have done the job all but the pee traps.

No p trap out of shower. Nothing to stop the bad smell of the tank from entering in through the shower drain.

You need to watch again. We use a different type of trap in this system. There is one for the shower and one for the sink.

mobiltec I stand corrected. Somehow I missed the hepvo trap part. Simple idea. Thats exactly what I need to connect my shower to my gray tank. This is why I find youtube a valuable resource. Thanks

rubbing steel on plastic at one stage rubbing will cause leaking putting rubber around where the steel and plastic touch and glue it to the plastic or steel just a thought

Completely agree. The quality of products coming out of china is substandard to what we were getting when made in the United States. Bolts shear off easily. Philips screws strip out far to often.

Well done. The only thing different I would have done is cap off the 3" pipe for the outlet your not using.

Well yes except one pipe is for waste and one for air circulation that will allow the toilet from backing up. The others can be used for the kitchen sink if not your right cap them. I have dreams of putting together my own little mini trailer. Maybe some blocks to hold it in place or rope tided at each corner an pull it into place just for temporary use. An I thought he was doing a toilet tank. sorry.
