I want this suspension for my model y but don’t want to lower it at all :/
@officialyasir7 ай бұрын
Pound feet or lb-ft is correct. The “pound-foot” (lb-ft) is a unit of torque and a vector measurement that is created by one pound of force acting on a one foot lever. The “foot-pound” (or more accurately, “foot-pound-force”), on the other hand, is a measurement of work. Work is the measurement of force over a given distance. So one foot-pound-force (ft-lbf or just ft-lb) is the energy required to move a one pound object one foot of linear distance.

For 3 grand it just “eats it up a little better” over road bumps ! Hmmm I’d say that’s a shitty suspension upgrade!

Ehh I agree 3k is high but I'd say it's definitely worth it if you can find the parts and labor for under 2K. Especially for older 3/Y with the poor suspesion

Because it costs $3000, that’s why not.

Because it’s a measure of force over a distance, lb-ft is actually correct, despite the common usage.
@jarmis7777 ай бұрын
No, it’s force X distance, therefore both are correct. A*B = B*A in algebra.

Lb-ft is the correct term for torque. Foot-pounds of force is a unit of measurement of work.

Love to see a Model Y stock vs Unplugged, Koni FSD, others. Maybe shocks only and blind test drive. Best sub $1500 all in upgrade.

ft-lbs and lb-ft are both ok because they're multiplicative so they're commutative
@jarmis7777 ай бұрын
Thanks for the video as I’ve been considering a suspension upgrade for my 2019 Model 3. Units for torque involves multiplying a distance and a force and the commutative property from algebra tells us A*B = B*A. Therefore, you can choose to write ft-lbs or lb-ft. Both are correct mathematically speaking. Having said that I’m only familiar with folks saying ft-lbs. 🤓

I got the same suspension on my model Y, not sure where the luxury come from. OK it’s a little smoother, but then more problem squeaking from the back most likely because it’s not compatible with Tesla.

Brake fluid should be changed every two years even if you don’t use it, remember brake fluid is hydro scopic, which means it attracts moisture. I would never wait until 80K miles.

and when that rubber is worn out, the problem starts. It seems as if they have made a product that is poorly designed and then fixed it with a solution that probably won't last in the long run. Maybe they should have designed them better.

Hey Do we know what they did to the highland model 3 suspension? It rides very very nice now. It is all about the springs. Those springs looked so much better. Installed the Tein shocks on the Y and it was better but not Highland better. Is this Highland better?

I have installed UPP Luxury Suspension kit with their mild springs on my Y Performance from 2023 and I noticed a clunk noise while turning the wheel full turn which can be heard from outside (front left side) but is louder inside the cabin. Anyone noticed the same and how did you fix it? kzbin.infoV-4KGSi7ifY?feature=share
@MotoMiwa-o9d7 ай бұрын
It could be a few different things, but you are hearing the springs pinging when it slips on one of the ends at the top or bottom when it is binding a bit. When the unit is rebuilt at installation with the car's upper mount, the spring ends need to sit correctly in the rubber seat pockets. If the upper mount was assembled slightly askew and later twisted a little to orient the upper mount screws into the apron holes, it might have put a little bit of load on it. Also, using a little bit of grease between the rubber and spring helps to relieve the small loads and tension, too. Just taking these approaches to prevent spring pre-tension will work to eliminate pining. Tesla Model 3/Y do have a very large dynamic alignment change as the front hubs are steered right to left, and vice versa. Camber and caster swings quite a bit and if the springs on the perch is allowed to stick-slip, it will make pinging noises.
