Haha thank you! I know I can’t believe I did that lol. It was one of those moments where you totally blank, like unwrapping a candy and throwing it away and keeping the wrapper in your hand and then realizing what you’ve done.

Even if it was purely accidental the footage you got while your phone was taking a swim of its own is pretty cool in its own right \o3o/ It's really cool to see how this van is coming together 🙌

I continued watching and was delighted to be able to shout out BIG CHEERS to the cell phone rescue diver!!!! Getting the word out to van lifers about paying attention to engine lights is a good message. I have watched thousands of van life videos over the years. Your videos are amazing. Great editing with the music too! Love, love, love your filming talent. Mary from Oregon.

Thank you so much for being humble to show your struggles putting down the vinyl. It was so adorably entertaining. It gives everyone a touch of reality; like struggles with trying something new, enduring the glue all over the place (including your arms), and trying again when something doesn't work. Watching you stain the wood was fun and educational at the same time. Hey, you are the first person, that I personally noticed, to wear overalls. What a great idea! It keeps stains off of your shirt, it keeps your waist area from always needing adjusting by pulling up one's pants after bending over, and they look durable enough to hold up under heavy use! I will have to get myself a pair. Thank you so much for making these video's! I have enjoyed laughing at all of the struggles followed with successes in this one! I am currently gathering supplies and soon going to start the design phase on my van! Mary, from Oregon.

I literally LOVE my overalls lol. Not only because of all the reasons you mentioned, but because all the pockets are so great when I’m both working on the van and filming! I always have a pocket for my lens cap, and one for my tape measure! Thank you so much for watching, I had no choice but to be realistic about the glue!! Lol. Good luck on starting the build!! Oregon is so nice, I’ve never been but hopefully I’ll get there sometime soon!

Well now I know what not to do. Yikes. I was cringing watching you glueing down that vinyl. But we all have to learn the hard way some time, I guess. When I saw that you didn't have the vinyl rolled to put it in the van after glueing the floor, I was like, wow! I saw it coming, when you stepped down on the glue. But you got it figured out. Glad it all turned out ok.

Ahh you're making awesome progress! I'm so proud of youuuu. Im also with you, I 130% don't want to put more holes in my camper at alllll. Drilling a hole to mount my backup camera was the worst feeling ever. I smothered it with silicone after 🤣

Ugh yeah the cutting was brutal haha, but I cannot believe how watertight a bit of butyl tape and silicone can be!! It downpoured like the day after I finished installing the fan and I was thrilled that nothing leaked.

Girl, I’m so proud of you. I have an 02 Express passenger van that has a no build because I’m TERRIFIED to rip everything out, lol. You’re an inspiration. If my Dad was still alive, this would have been something we could have done together. 🤷🏼♀️. For now though, I love Big Blue. I only wish she were a high top but that can always be done later. Happy building! PS. My check engine light is always on due to EVAP issue. Every single part in the system has been replaced, smoke test, leak test, new gas cap…still on. My mechanics have thrown their hands up and assured me it’s safe to drive. I have a hand held scanner and just check it every once in awhile to make sure no new codes. Unfortunately, this seems to be a common issue with the Express.

You're doing a great job! We had so many hiccups on our trailer reno, but in the end it's soooo worth it. Glad you took that float trip for some R&R, even with your phone getting a little wet ; ) We took a lot of short satellite trips to stay sane during our build.

Good work, but the sealant is applied to the edges of the opening in the roof before installing the fan. It is not enough to cover the gap. Dried foam is easily cut with a regular knife with replaceable blades. This does not form sawdust.

this series has been incredibly inspiring as someone who also is going to work on converting a chevy express like i cannot wholly express how thankful i am that you worked so hard to produce these videos!! your vocabulary regarding car parts and tools is insanely impressive as well. one thing i want to ask is if there was a particular source for becoming so familiar with the ins and outs of car parts that helped you so recognize is a part was old and needed replacing? i want to become more familiar with my own van but dont have an owners manual and am not vehicle savy in any sense. is there a website you can recommend that simply explains how the express works?
@LindsayDaly Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Honestly most of it was thanks to my mechanic, a total godsend. I truly had no idea about cars at all, so I basically learned about a new part every time my van had a problem, lol. A lot of googling, too, plus all the help from my boy Ahmad at Forest Hills Auto, who would do things like text me videos of my fan belt assembly to point out exactly where it was worn out! I didn’t have one single source for learning this stuff though, unfortunately- that would be nice tbh! I read my owners manual cover to cover, but even if you don’t have one you can definitely look up the year of your express to read online.

@@LindsayDaly thank you for the reply its much appreciated. mechanics worry me the most since ive already been ripped off my one for a couple thousand dollars, one thing they claimed was that i needed a brand new ac unit when after having another autoshop check it turned out to only be disconnected wiring which saved me several hundred with just that. im jealous to hear you have a mechanic that is so invested in showing you how things work!

I've been trying to find maxx air install videos specifically for a chevy express because that's what I have too. So glad I found yours! Just curious, did you make that wooden frame to put on the underside or did you find it pre-made somewhere?
