Great videos, I installed pretty much the same kit in my 28 Dodge, there is a weak spot you may want to address. At 217 in the video is a good shot of the lower control arm mount. All your braking forces are pushing rear ward and inward on the the back end of the the shaft in the lower control arm and there is nothing attached to the frame other whats in the cross member and the short bushing. On mine I added two brackets down from the frame for the rear bushing to mount in, you could add one down from the frame on the rear side of the bushing.

Hey brother. Great video. I’m installing the same IFS and the rear race on the brake rotor doesn’t want to go all the way back and “seat” leaving me enough room on the front of the spindle for the front race, washer, and castle nut. Did you have any issues as you seated the rotors? Didn’t appear you did just have to ask for your wisdom. I wish I could post a pic to show you what I mean. Thank you!

Thank you for these videos. I'm about to start building a 64 international scout, and want to use a mustang 2 front kit like you did. The only issue I see is my frame rails are 29" inside to inside, and 35" outside to outside, but the speedway kits seem to be much narrower. Hopefully I can think up a solution!

contact speedway. they would know. thanks for watching!

@@GODSPEEDGarage I wound up getting it done! I used a kit for a 55-59 chevy truck from speedway motors, and measured the frame of a 58 a friend has so I was able to modify my frame to use the kit. It worked out perfect.

I ran into the same issue with a speedway kit (entire kit from speedway)..... called tech support and they acted like it was my fault!!!!! Those bushings should be longer, a few washers on mine solved the problem too.

I have the gearhead kit that looks like yours . Do you know what rotors these kits use. They sent wrong ones and would like to be able to replace locally . Thanks
@GODSPEEDGarage3 жыл бұрын
should be standard 1970s Mustang II rotors - 74-78 Mustang II, 74-80 Pinto... they may be different due to bolt pattern. I would contact the manufacturer of your kit to confirm

Great videos - I'm curious how you installed the original steering..
@GODSPEEDGarage3 жыл бұрын
haven't done it yet... I'm currently building the engine. once I get it installed where I want it with exhaust and everything I'll do a video for steering. planning on installing a bearing, then connecting the shaft to a double D shaft via u-joint, then connecting to the steering pump with the correct adapter. I may have to trim back the frame rail... it's coming along... slowly, thanks to pandemic slowing down parts availability and machine shops... good times... stay tuned!!!

Dude nice video thanks for sharing , are you using stock wheels and if so do you have any clearance issues?
@GODSPEEDGarage3 жыл бұрын
they are 15" steelies. stock came with 14", which would have clearance issues. but anything 15" or bigger should be fine. thanks for watching!

Why did you choose the Heidts crossmember instead of the Speedway one? Thanks so much for the videos!
@GODSPEEDGarage4 жыл бұрын
i already had the heidts one. originally i planned on using it with the components from the Helix kit, but that kit went to hell, and dealing with Johnny Law Motors, Helix, etc. (all the same company) i went through 7 layers of the worst HELL ever!!! ha! i bought the crossmember from Summit, it would've cost $25 for restocking plus shipping. so i just kept it to use with the speedway kit. it worked out GREAT and i'm soooo happy i went with speedway instead of that horrific Chinese kit from Helix...

Why would you have to cut coil springs?
@GODSPEEDGarage Жыл бұрын
to level the car depending on your engine and transmission weight. it's the only downfall to the Speedway kit, but I would still recommend it. THANKS FOR WATCHING!

Why would you clean the rotor before you pack the bearings? Why not do it afterwards in case any grease gets on them?
@GODSPEEDGarage4 жыл бұрын
why not do both? pretty sure i cleaned before AND after... new rotors have some casting residue... you DO NOT want that in your grease. any dirt, metal flakes, etc will work it's way into your bearings and shorten the life. THANKS FOR WATCHING!!
@chucksgarage71654 жыл бұрын
