Installing a NEW CARBON FIBER Steering Wheel on an OLD G WAGON!

Guys, it's been a long longggg time since we've done anything together and I'm excited to show you how to install a brand new carbon fiber steering wheel on an old G Wagon! Huge thanks to my friend Eric for showing the entire process and letting me drive the G wagon around for a bit! The G wagon is a 2005 G55 AMG!

You'd definitely would have to do some retrofitting but overall it could work. The problem is the amount of time and effort to get everything done. Plus parts are expensive

Hi mate , it's would be great if you can make a video of how you wire up the aftermarket headunit in the G . I had the same one which is described as plug play , I even swap out the fibre optic pair from stock headunit to the aftermarket headunit plug and it still doesn't work , please help me . Thank you.

Red wire for power (when ignition is on) and black for grounding. Then connect via aux in glovebox.

Sorry for the late reply but I'm currently working on getting the screen as well. The problem with these screens is finding the proper mount for the G wagon. I'll be doing it on a c class first and then find a way to do it on a g wagon again

Awesome video. Think it would be helpful if you can furnish more information on how to connect the wires. Basically, we have a 2005 that is going through an upgrade. That dashboard and the infotainmeny system were upgraded to 2020. Everything works perfect except for the steering wheel that we are yet to figure. The irony is that the controls of the old and original steering wheel works with the infotainment system. Please furnish us with a wiring connection diagram.

Important note !! @ 6:20 . The new steering wheel will not work with 2002 Gwagon. Indeed it is the same generation (look wise) however the controller electronics, wiring and airbag are not the same. So the steering wheel will fit, the airbag you will have to get a single stage airbag instead of duo stage however the steering wheel buttons will not work on a 2002. It will work on 2003 and up (same generation +). After watching this video I purchased the steering wheel. Eric at carbontastic is awesome, the entire team is excellent, they have been very helpful with my issue. They went over and beyond to make me happy. I will always do business with them and looking forward to hooking up my porsche next. Shout out to RC ,Eric and Chris you guys are awesome!!!!
