you need a smaller popup, that can fit sideways on the back of the pontoon with the beds hanging out over the water. Which would allow you to have the whole front for helm, fish deck, and cook space. If you find the right one, might even have an awning that would hang over the helm.

Love this concept and I hope you can fix the broken roof of the pop up to make this an actual functioning creation. Also, extended side decking so you can walk around and enter the pop-up correctly. Throw in a small propane grill and nice Eco-Flow or other battery bank and you are set for some floating fishing adventures.

Put grab rails on the roof for getting around the sides A lot of cabin cruisers etc have narrow walk-around decks and have them for holding on. Ideally she'd be trimmed further aft, but it is what it is. Back in the day we used to see a lot of people would make a barge and then put an old caravan on it, just like you've done here.

You could replace the bottom of the pull-out with ridged foam covered with fiberglass . A piece of dock foam or 1/3 length pontoon under the middle of the bow would be advisable. You could make a pontoon out of blue plastic barrel. Or one 55 gallon drum with a piece angled up for a bow . Even half a drum (old BBQ grill ?) .

Just out of curiosity, did you guys think of making maybe like four holes near the top of each pontoon, then getting cans of the expanding foam and filling your old pontoons with the foam? Think about how they do walls in houses to insulate them - they drill a hole, stick a nozzle in and pump foam that expands and fills the space. That way water really can't get into your pontoons - well, it can, but there's no place left for it to accumulate. Also the foam helps with the buoyancy of your boat. Just a thought...

I love the idea and the execution. I'd do one thing differently. Get a smaller one that's body is about equal to the WIDTH of the pontoon, and put it on at 90 degrees. That way the door is over the boat's floor and the beds pop out over water.

The Jed Shed..... I had one of these in my past!!! When I was in high school I helped a neighbor do this with an aluminum shed that was 8 foot wide and had way more room on the pontoon boat than this. Your boat is way too small. We had at least a 3 foot back porch that had a generator, one outboard motor and was able to eventually hang a window AC unit out the back after a few trips cooking ourselves in an aluminum can in the middle of the water with zero shade. The second season somewhere we found two abandoned walk in freezers and used the walls to insulate inside the shed. Canvas tarps made the front porch , bait coolers fitted with backs made seats and the whole thing was painted blue with a sign on the sides of the shed that said "Jed Clampett's Bait and Tackle Supplies". That with a donated pleather couch, Farrah Fawcett, Cheryl Tiegs and a few Budweiser supermodel posters made that thing perfect. We fished off that thing way past college. I’ve had this desire to build a (floating) trailer which could be towed by a eg bow rider. Instant yacht. Anchor the “trailer“ & cruise around. Then attach bow rider to trailer & sleep, cook, etc. Most suitable on a fixed lake as would be tricky to move.

Ya had me with the thumbnail!! 😂😂. I was hoping it was going to look a “little” better inside, but it’s basically all there. A little epoxy and fibreglass (you are the master of fibreglass now, are you not?) and a bit of aluminum bracing and that roof is as good as new!! Some aluminum frame for the door and a plywood panel covering the one hole in the side and it’s bug proof and everything!!! If it were me, I might be shopping for a 3rd pontoon,,,,,, just to help. You are not going to be able to get going with the bigger motor as the fins to elevate the boat will be under the slightest wave!! 😂😂😂😂 oops,,,. Haha. Still think this is your biggest success in the water except for the inflatable houseboat!! That thing is amazing!! Expensive as hell, but amazing!

I have seen an airstream mounted on top of pontoons, coolest thing I've seen.

This is awesome. I was so excited when I saw the thumbnail for this. I think taking the axel, tongue and all the extra insides you could have left the stove and sink. You can always repurpose the stove and sink but build a lighter frame for it and keep it by the center console for some outdoor grilling.

Hey Ayo. Try hooking up an air-pump to drain hole of the pontoon and spray soapy water on the outside and see where it's bubbling to find all the leaks.

I feel like adding a deck that folds up on both sides of the boat and making removable plastic drums on all four corners of the added deck would give more space, help with stability and decrease chances of sinking your modern marvel.

Ok move over Uncle Rob!!! You’re the new dude! Also what about a job crane on the back of the Girthie Girl? It would help with weight displacement and it would let you swing from the back to the front while gaining some serious cool points. Added bonus: you can use the crane to help you haul in the big ones that you must be catching. I’m talking about fish here…

You should look for a 6 or 8 foot box popup that's a little narrower. That way you have some boat space left. You could actually mount it sideways and have the beds hang off the sides of the boat.

I bet instead of removing things on the inside take a look underneath. The axle, springs, and tires weight a bit. Plus is there a full metal frame? Maybe instead of three hours take some time and build a wood frame in place of the steel one, then shed some weight like those pull out awnings. I got a slide in camper into the back of my compact truck. The camper is build for a full size truck, but I will say I did work on my rig for such a thing. Plus my truck does weigh more than the camper to start with and I also can haul 3500lbs so some work was involved. But hey sink or swim, it will be entertaining to say the least as always.
