respect??? I guess you think of respect like the guy recording the video.. talking about someone right in front them like he did wasn't respectful in my opinion. Not cool at all, i wouldn't like it if he spoke about me like that on a public forum, but I could handle it a lot better than I could if he were talking about my father or my grandfather. This guy filming does not give a fek about anybody but himself, obviously, he is completely disrespectful for no reason, I am not saying he shouldn't be cautious, but it is different to be cautious than it is to besmirch someone's honor... this is almost as bad as someone accusing some old guy of being a rapist just because they are scare of them because they don't' know them.. .it is WRONG, That is a good old guy and he didn't deserve to be talked about like that. 1ST...as a veteran (USCG 1980-85), thank you for your support and consideration. 2ND...as a fellow KZbinr, way to think outside of the box for new content, AYO! 3RD...as an offshore oilfield employee, specifically, an AB Seaman on a 753' drill ship, I can fill you in on some general info about your boat. Before I do that, though, I'll say that I'm from Andalusia, and I've seen that boat for years and wondered how in the hell it wound up here! Glad to see it has a new job! I'll give some info about observations in no particular order, but I'll try to keep them coherent! The space that James said held ballast...that space held bottles of compressed air. If a boat is launched in an actual emergency, there's all probability that the atmosphere around it is toxic, explosive, or both. The inside of the boat can be kept at positive pressure by introducing compressed air...this keeps "bad" air from being sucked into the boat where the people are. The hole in the bottom is most likely the "plug", but it's not an ordinary plug. Lifeboats have a hydrostatic switch that prevents them from being released from their falls (cable moorings) until they're fully in the water, and it's built into the boat's plug. This system can be bypassed, but only intentionally. You said in this video or the water test video that you wished it had the original seats...it does. Lifeboats aren't made to be comfortable, ours are roughly the same size and accommodate 75 people each, and the hard fiberglass tops are where the butt meets the bench! James was correct about the seatbelts, though...these boats are self-righting if they get capsized, but only if everyone is belted into place...I can share a story about what can happen if that's not the case! The sink, obviously, is not original equipment...the Datrex emergency drinking water probably is! It is required that the boats be launched and tested periodically. I think it's quarterly, but we launch ours monthly, weather permitting. The hatches at the very front and very back are access from inside the boat to grab and reattach the falls (cables) when recovering the boat after launch. Depending on how old the boat is, the tubular railing on top should actually be water pipes for a sprinkler system, to keep the boat cool if it has to be driven through flames on the water after launch. The tubes on the bottom are a heat exchanger, working like James said, as a radiator. That boat cranked as well and as quickly as any of our six, which are all cranked and run weekly! Lastly...you were 1000% correct when you said that it must really suck, working on an oil rig...it truly does! LOL Stay safe!

I recently said hello to an elderly woman in the grocery store and she proceeded to walk along with me visiting and it came out that she didn't have any friends/family left and it had been days since she'd talked to anyone. James is a beast. He reminds me of my grandpa before he got Alzheimer’s. I bet that old man could tell some stories that would have you rolling. Great video AYO love the channel. Also appreciate the shout out when you said to the 40 years olds watching.

I hope this life boat gets to it's new home safe! I love old people stories. Had a 90 yr wwII vet talk my ear off when I worked at a Junkyard. Spent a good 2-3 hours with him and I just gave him the parts he was looking for. His stories were well worth it.

2 things young fellow, 1/ I am impressed with the way you took your time looking over this one, Not just " looks cool I will buy it " your growing wiser ( Time to start teaching Norm ). 2/ With the drain hole, I would treat it just like any other boat, I would fit a well sealed threaded bung into the hole so yes when the boat is sitting around you can unplug it. Keep up the great work, and at least with this one you will have man cave to sleep in when the wife kicks you out for buying another boat. Love to you both from a very jealous old man. 🤣

My dad is 71 years old and he's a lil more tame and good Ole Mr James but he shares the same mentality. He's as active as I am and then some. I mean the man wakes up at 4:30 to go to work 6 days a week. He doesn't need the money but he loves doing something. I asked him why he keeps working and he said "if I ain't working I'd just be sitting around dying". Greatest man I'll ever know and I cherish the fact I bought a house down the road so we can hang out anytime we want.

This was great! James will definitly need to make another appearance. He reminds me of all the old timers I used to go out fishing with. Now I'm the old timer. You're the best, I can't wait to see the fishing off the lifeboat challenge!
