Installing a Quick Release Vise on my New Workbench [Part 2]

I recently built myself a woodworking bench (which is basically just a plywood cabinet with room for me to sit at), and bought a birch bench top to use as a work surface. Of course, no woodwork bench is truly complete without a vise or two - I opted for the Quick Release vises from Rockler.
I had never used a quick release vise before, but the gist of it is that the screw post has a split collet, which opens when quarter-turned one way, and closes when turned the other way. By releasing the collet, you can freely slide the vise jaws open and closed for very fast operation. Once I got used to the method, I found the vises extremely comfortable to work with!
Another factor that made me choose this type of vise over one of the classic, chunkier shop vises is that there really isn't a minimum table thickness for these vises, since they simply mount under the overhang of your table. I had opted for a slightly thinner 1-3/4" tabletop instead of the classic school shop 2-1/4", so this allowed me to mount the vise easily without any blocking or shimming.
Some notes: you do need to make your own wooden vise jaws which, as a woodworker, was a fun activity for me. You should have some of the usual tools and materials like powered drills and screwdrivers, a way to drill 1-1/8" or 1-1/4" diameter holes, plus a hand plane for making the jaws flush to your table. You will also need to furnish your own wood screws for mounting the vise and the vise jaws, length depending on the thickness of your table.
ALSO, it is worth noting that only the larger, 12" end vise came with printed instructions in the box. Rockler seems to have dropped the ball and does not include packaged instructions for the smaller, 9" front vise, BUT the instructions for the larger vise generally work the same for the smaller one.
