Installing a R32 bumper from ebay on the MK4 GTI - Part 1

So the bumper on my MK4 GTI has definitely started to show its age and it was time to change it up. Of course the R32 bumper has always appealed to me. It was pretty tough finding a used one nearby, so I decided to take a chance on a $300 replica on ebay. This thing is awesome!

Thank you so so much for doing this video. Fixing up my 03 gti vr6 that has had oem R32 side skirts and wing for years. Was in a small accident and finally swapping to this!

Just found your channel. Thanks for the video I was looking at installing quick connectors on mine and this really helped. Only downside of mine is that it is fiberglass, and my boss broke the bottom of it and messed up the bracket holding it by hitting a crosstie where I work.

Thanks man! It has been a workhorse for me for many years haha. I'm honestly blown away by the bumper, it was so easy to work with. They are based on the quik latches, you should be able to find them on amazon. they have different sizes and colors, really neat items. Thanks for watching!

Hey man, I wanted to do the same to my R32 powered MK4 GTI as well. It’s definitely the best OEM bumper for these cars but I was worried about fitment so I never went forward with it. Do you have a link for the one you purchased? Thanks man.

Yeah, it's definitely hard to beat the looks of the R32 bumpers! This is the one I purchased (It went up a good amount in price since I bought it) - www.ebay.com/itm/391875321357 The fitment is excellent. I also really like the material (easy to work with, flexible yet sturdy). By far the best fitting aftermarket body part I've ever used.

Yeah that's what I am planning to do. Basically scuff, adhesion promoter, spray paint and 2k clear. I don't see why it wouldn't hold up.

Are they whith bi-xenon projectors or normaly projector without highbeam?

@@trimosmani2923 They are normal projectors w/o high beam. High beams are the inner bulbs, like on OEM headlights.

@@supercarmio I'm planning the same electic ps mod with a volvo unit that puts out 1750-2000psi (150bar). Since the volvo unit only has one output I was thinking of just getting a Y fitting to the brake system and ps system. The brakes operate at 150bar(2000psi) and the ps system is supposed to be at 110bar. I would just get a pressure reducer for the rack. Not sure if it would work, just a thought so far.
