Coming across an aftermarket bumper that you haven’t seen before, for a car that has been out for over 20 years is pretty surprising. It seemed too good of an opportunity to pass up… until it didn’t fit the car!! Watch the 18 month process from buying the bumper to it fitting on the Honda S2000.

Olly finds a brand new in box Buddy Club Racing Spec front bumper for his Honda S2000 AP1. Although it looks like it will line up and fit perfectly when it arrived on a pallet. In reality, it was so far off that it was almost not worth the time or money to get it to actually fit on the car. Due to the how uncommon this bumper is, Olly decided to commit to the funds that it would cost to get it to fit on the car. This was no easy job and the amount of man hours and craftsmanship that has gone into making this fit is insane.
This BuddyClub Racing Spec front bumper is part of a kit offered by Buddy Club. As well as this front bumper there are side skirt extensions and a rear bumper. I cannot find any more information about this kit online. As this bumper completely covers the OEM tow hook position, the best and only real option is the J’s Racing Front tow hook. As an extra touch, it got sprayed Spoon Yellow to match the Spoon Monoblock brake callipers.

That looks phenomenal!! The body shop did an amazing job. Also, you are incredibly patient to make a video covering this over a year in the making!

I have to agree! I still can’t believe it’s my car! Much better to keep it a surprise rather than fill with false promises. There were a few times where this nearly didn’t happen. It’s also one complete story then.

There's a couple pics on s2ki of it from 03. It looks like that's how it suppose to fit. You can see the gap by the headlights in the pics. Nice find though.

Yeah, that is all I have seen out there! Kinda wild that there aren't many out there, the fitment might be why! Haha

Maybe consider air cups for your front coilovers. It would allow you to lower the car more but to raise the front when driving over speed bumps, steep driveways, etc.

Yeah, this is definitely something I am thinking about. The space the tank takes up is the only real downside for me. It is an option for sure

@@OllyRoss You can get a tankless setup and so would only need space for the compressor. With the S2000 engine bay being so big, I suspect it can be probably be put in there rather than taking up interior space. This is what I am planning to do with my S2000 as well.

Its a mental looking bumper, damn. Super aggressive. Fibreglass bumpers etc never really fit 100%, I have an ASM bumper and while its good, its not 100% and would need a bit of bodywork to make it fit like an oem bumper
@OllyRoss
@OllyRoss 8 ай бұрын
Absolutely! Fits in with my plans perfectly! Yeah, I was expecting it but not this bad! Haha! I will be getting the ASM rear bumper in the future so I can't wait for more body work to be needed!

I mean pretty much par for the course with majority of aftermarket JDM aero/body kits typically "massaging" is required for even semi decent fitment even more so with older kits double that for mass produced kits and worst of all knock off / fake (which can often times have reproduced stickers badges etc but really it's just how FRP goes truly including the best of the best / top shelf most expensive newest production technology JDM aero will still need at least some modification such as voltex, Varis, liberty walk, TRA Kyoto/ Pandem etc
@OllyRoss
@OllyRoss 8 ай бұрын
Absolutely! I was expecting some bodywork but not this amount! I reckon there had been some warping from this thing just sitting in a box for years. Can't wait for more of that when I buy the other aftermarket body panels I want for the rest of the car! Haha

In the end it was just the bumper but even still, it is a great match. The only difference is the fresh paint looks amazing and has no swirls! Haha
