I don't place gravel under the concrete tanks. It goes on existing ground. For plastic tanks I do bed with stone.

What size bucket are you running on that mini?

@@samgebuys2193 thanks for the question! I run a 30" tooth bucket when digging the tank hole. I run a 36" bucket with paddle teeth (flare teeth) when digging the lateral lines for 3' chambers.

@ cool! Reason I ask is that I’ve got the same mini and I’m running a 24” bucket on it right now. I want to run a bit bigger bucket, and it looks like yours handles the 30” just fine.

@@samgebuys2193 nice! Yea the kx040 handles the 30 fine. The 36 is good too but a little wobbly all the way out with a full bucket. Works fine for trenching shallow and backfilling though.

⁠@@NealORussaI have a bobcat e42 and am looking to start doing septic. I currently only have a 24” tooth bucket. I will have to purchase a 36” for doing the drain field. I hope the 36” won’t be unstable for digging the tank hole
