sherpa says not to use silicone how come you say to use it ?

Interesting recommendation on the silicone... this is the only install video recommending it. Curious why? I think Sherpa recommends blue loctite on the threads for those bolts only.

We do not recommend using silicone or any sealant. We also do not recommend Loctite on any bolts other than the bolts directly mounted into the roof.

​@@sherpaec Should they have removed that old silicone? It doesn't look like the rubber spacer will be water tight with the way they installed it here.

@@oscarm7619 The old Silicone was from the previous roof rack, we use it just to be safe but its a personal preference!

@@oscarm7619 ideally it's a nice clean surface for the rubber to sit on. Removing old grim, silicone from previous racks, etc is best practice.
