Installing a slap shift style shifter - '68 Camaro

Great video. I hope you don't mind me talking about the differences in the detent plates that are available for these shifters. The slap shift and racheting shifter terms get used a lot, but sometimes not quite right. An actual rachet shifter has a handle that returns to the same position with each gear change, and a slap shifter has gates for each gear change, and with each change, the handle moves to a new position. I know that Shiftworks, Summit Racing, and others advertise the Thomson Performance and Shiftworks detent plates both ways, as if the descriptions mean the same. I'm not sure why they do that. I know that Mr Thomson owns the patent number that both companies have on their parts. The True Slap line of detent plates are named as such because they are designed to function as an actual slap shifter conversion for factory shifters that, unlike the Thomson Performance and Shiftworks conversions, will let the user simply slap the shifter handle forever for the 1-2 shift, and then do the same for the 2-3 shift, without missing a shift. There's no need to squeeze the trigger for either shift, and they provide a Neutral lockout feature. There's no wasted movement by racheting, and you can look at the shifter anytime and actually see what gear the shifter is in. Shiftworks contacted me recently after some of my customers told them how my detent plates function. They are interested in buying detent plates from me for resale. I'm wondering if you'd like to have one of my patented True Slap detent plates to make a video to upload on KZbin.

I don’t mind you talking about the differences at all. I’m all about “getting it right” and always happy to learn. I think it would be great to have one of your detent plates to make a KZbin video on. I would want to talk with you about the design and correct verbiage before making the video though. @@gerardolopez5875 mine is the original console & shifter, I just replaced the detent and indicator. You can find reproduction consoles at many of the Camaro parts places like Classic Industries, Rick’s Camaro and maybe SS396. Hope that helps.
