Installing a Spektrum Firma 40a ESC and Receiver Combo In My Son's Axial Wraith 1.9

Here's a quick raw look at my son's Axial Wraith 1.9 getting a couple needed upgrades. He likes to take his trucks deep into water and that finally took its toll on the electronics. Eventually he'll learn its not a submarine. Luckily there is a cool new Smart ESC and Receiver combo for crawlers from Spektrum that I've been dying to try. It was an easy fit and I think I'll be upgrading my other son's 1.9 wraith as well.

Great servo upgrade! The eco powers are the best servo upgrade for an rtr. I run them in both crawlers and love it.

Bought a RTR SCX10 iii yesterday and burned up this esc/receiver combo in 30 min. I was just doing slow crawls on rocks and all of a sudden I smelled electrical burning and my truck stopped. I am now upgrading to the new brushless crawler system.

Was never a fan of esc receiver combo, but i like this one. Plus you can use a hobbywing program card all the same settings as a 1080.

How do u bind it? I have a stock horizon multi model lt transmitter and dont know how to bind it.

Hold the bind button on the front of the receiver when you turn it on. Then select a model you want to bind to on your Transmitter and select Bind in the options.

How did you get the esc to program to the transmitter I can’t get it to work at all been looking around all over can’t find anything on it and I’m trying to use the hrz00001 on that trying to be cheap to update an old system

Just seeing this. The HRZ00001 is a horizon radio that doesn’t use the DSMR protocol that this receiver uses.

Exactly. Especially since it doubles as the receiver. It wouldn’t be in a waterproof case underneath and this keeps it higher and potentially out of some water in the future. Don’t love having to remove screws to access essential electronics. I usually don’t put receivers in boxes or leave the tops off to make them accessible. Accessibility is a big thing for me.
