Good instructional video. You speak clearly and are easy to understand. So many instructional videos the person talking is mumbling and you can't understand what they are saying.

I own a 2008 Ford Focus, and I bought this adapter for my new stereo, the flaw in this adapter is that it needs to be tapped into the constant power wire. After a month my battery stopped working. I would recommend using a CRUX Smart Harness adapter. It doesn’t drain the battery and it works great. If you also own a Ford Focus I do recommend the RP4-FD11 harness, that’s a very good one too.

Can the hands free calling control still work? good video by the way.
@crutchfield
@crutchfield 8 жыл бұрын
Sometimes the wires for those hands free calling controls do run to the radio and when they do, they can be kept working. Sometimes they do not but instead run to different modules in the vehicle. When that happens, we cannot keep them working. Assuming your Kenwood is also compatible with the adapter (not all aftermarket stereos are), any controls you had over the original factory stereo (volume, channel, source, etc.) would be restored. The trip computer functions can be retained by grounding a wire from the factory harness. You will find more info in the "Support" section of the main Crutchfield website. You can also call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

Can this be run from the same 12v accessory and same ground as the radio? My 2011 Crown Victoria LX seems to only have one of each when I looked at the connector and I don't know whether they can be shared between the aftermarket radio and ASWC-1 or if it's more complicated than that
@crutchfield

Most of the information I have seen on this indicates that a lot of vehicles need the ground to be in a different spot from the radio's ground. I would imagine this is true for all vehicles. If you purchased it from us, you can give our technical support a call for confirmation. If you purchased elsewhere and they cannot help, you may reach out to Metra as they make the ASWC-1 interface. If there is already a Bluetooth Mic installed for my car, will this adapter allow the functionality to work again? I see you have a bunch of wires you didn't use. Are one of those dedicated to the microphone?
@crutchfield
@crutchfield 8 жыл бұрын
+drslickrick15 This interface does not keep a factory installed Bluetooth microphone working. The extra wires are there because this interface can work with many different vehicles and aftermarket radios. They automatically include all the wires that could be possibly used in these different vehicles which means some will always be left unused. Typically, the only way to use a factory Bluetooth microphone is if there is a way to keep the factory Bluetooth system working when you install a new radio. The steering wheel adapters we carry are intended to retain the use of existing steering wheel controls for volume, next song, etc. If you don't currently have those your options would be to replace the steering wheel with a new one that does have those or add a universal steering wheel control adapter like this Axxess RFASWC to your existing steering wheel: www.crutchfield.com/I-rFBKc290/g_459850/Turntable-Cartridges.html?tp=71663

@crutchfield

A lot depends on the specific vehicle, stereo and the selected integration adapter. In most applications, the integration adapter will connect to either a provided lead in the aftermarket stereo's harness or directly to a dedicated input (3.5mm) provided on the back side of the aftermarket stereo chassis. On the vehicle end, you'll need to tap the factory leads for the commands coming from the steering wheel buttons. Hi I am doing my research before installing an aftermarket deck into my Mazda 6 and have a few questions you may be able to answer. First off...an aftermarket deck should only affect the "audio controls" on the steering wheel correct? As in, the cruise control functions on the steering wheel should be fine? I am considering buying a Sony MEX BT3-100p single din deck that has bluetooth functionality. My car also has hands free calling features on the steering wheel. Will these calling features work with a bluetooth head unit? Will the Axxess adapter also allow the answer call and hang up button on the steering wheel work? Built in microphone? etc... Another question I had regarded satellite radio. My stock head unit was Sirius ready and all i had to do was call Sirius and register. I currently have a 5 month subscription. The Sony head unit i am considering says Sirius XM ready, will this be easy to register my current subscription with the stereo deck? Or will my subscription be lost with the stock head unit being replaced? Sorry if I sound very clueless but these are features in my car that I did not have before. I was used to an old Subaru Impreza with just the basics. Basically I want to upgrade my sound but do not want to sacrifice any of the cars features...but also do not want to spend a fortune. Thanks

On the steering wheel control adapter I have to wire it to another 12v wire that turns on and off with the ignition key. I am going to wire it to the receiver but my receiver has two 12v wires, one is a constant 12v and the other is switched. Which do I use?

I'm trying to install the aswc-1 in my car. I'm trying to hook it up to a Pioner AVH-5600 but the thing is I don't know where the red/gray wire is supposed to go. I got the harness adapter but im really confused as to how to connect everything together. The car is a Honda Accord 2008 Ex-L if that helps any. Would really appreciate an answer. I found the video hoping to see all connections one by one. Thanks!

In order to retain the steering wheel controls in your car with the adapters we carry, your aftermarket head unit must have a SWC (Steering Wheel Control) 3.5mm input or steering wheel remote control input wire (blue/yellow). Jorge Avelar Many car stereos that offer compatibility with adapters like the ASWC provide a lead in the wiring harness instead of the 3.5mm input. I am working on this task right now and can't figure out how it will work. It is claiming my 07 Honda Civic EX with standard sound system going to P4400 radio only need the Gray/red wire tapped in to pin 7 and then ground Pin 6. Then it will magically work?!? I have VOL, CH and Mode. Ya.. That takes more then 1 wire. however, the book claims I will be using 5 pins (the above claims 3...) with the pink wire connected to 1N and then green/white to 1P... This company can't agree on it's self.

You skipped the most critical step, which was, where you connected the two wires from the steering controls adapter? You said there were only two wires you needed for your install, but did not show where those two wires went to?
@crutchfield
@crutchfield 8 жыл бұрын
+Mark Newton In this example, those two control wires are shown connected to the adapting harness around 2:46 in the video. While that's cool, and that's what I'm going to do (since I *did* get it from you guys), you could have saved both myself as a customer and your support people a lot of time with just a teensy bit more info here. Is it really only one of those two wires necessary? Does it matter which one it is, so I need to call support to get the right one, or does it not matter at all? I have one (and only one) Steering remote lead from my stereo, so I'm so close here. 2-10seconds more on the video explaining this woulda been great.
