Installing a Wood Stove in Our Metal Building

We originally planned to install this stove the winter months. We did all of our research and bought all of the supplies months ago, but life doesn’t always provide the opportunity until a bit later. We were so glad to install this and can’t wait for the cold nights to return so we can try it out!

That definitely works and I see why you needed the triple wall all the way for strength. I opted to go black pipe up a ways and then out the top of the wall horizontally, so my double walled pipe started at the wall threshold. I didn't have to get on the roof or worry quite so much about the seal. I also like having the extra heat generated by the black stove pipe. Both ways work fine. Just throwing that out there as an option. 😏

Those shavings were pretty prevalent. I was lucky nothing got in my eyes. That was a tricky job!

So was it water tight? What did you do for the insulation on the inside?

Yes! It is water tight. With that rubber sleeve there have been no issues with wind, rain, or snow. We did not insulate up to the chimney. Only up to the sleeve.

Triple wall pipe all the way? Couldn't you do black pipe with damper, then triple wall at the roof.

Yes and no. Since we needed to have 1 section of triple wall to transition through the roof and 2 additional to clear the peak the stove pipe we had couldn’t hold the weight. So, we decided to go heavy with the chimney pipe all the way up. Thank you friend!
