In this video we show how to install a QTP electric cutout kit on your truck. The vehicle today is a RAM 1500 with a 5.7L HEMI. The installation allows you to control the sound of the exhaust on your truck with the touch of a button from LOUD to QUIET and is the perfect balance for your truck.
The installation didn't go as smooth as it should have and some customizing and tailoring are needed to get this kit to bolt on to your truck without any welding. Overall the install was completed but stubborn U-Shaped clamps and the Y pipe not being flared enough from the factory will make this install a bit more difficult than it should be.
After install you can use the wireless remote or the homelink garage door opener buttons to change the sound of your truck.

This is an awesome add on to your Ram, at the time you did this video I fabricated one by purchasing the valve on line and the wire kit. The company that you bought the kit from looks like they start with a OEM head pipe makes this so cool so you can easy go back to stock by unbolting then and replace.. I love loud motorcycles and if they annoy you use this kit to annoy them back LOL. I did this on my truck bcuz I could not make up my mind on who's mufflers to go with, and this was cheaper and when I'm driving and need to listening to my phone the bad ass rumble at a flip of a switch is gone!! Nice Video bud....

QTP actually recommends removing the cutout and going back to a stock configuration during winter months if you live someplace that salts the roads (i.e. the rust belt, New England, etc.). So it's no coincidence that it was designed that way.

You dont need a gasket between the valve and the towndown. There is nothing to seal it from. Aside from maybe staying in place better, the towndown does not need to be sealed.

Really awesome! I had no idea they made a cutout. I was considering getting a Borla touring muffler just for a bit of a throaty sound, but I can't handle something loud that drones. So this setup is ideal for when you want to show off or have a little fun but go back to normal. Doesn't look too hard other than the issue you had with cutting the pipe out. As always, thank for making these vids. I don't think I make good vids at all.

I would definitely recommend it! I'm not too impressed with the fit and finish of that stupid Y pipe though. For how expensive it is they should have done a better job. With that being said I do love how it works and the sound!

The QTP cutout is actually pretty well built from your video. I bought a cheap ebay kit. I had to have an exhaust shop weld the y-pipe on and the cutout actuator I got is complete garbage. I had to put a block off plate in while I look for a replacement cutout. So I will end up spending way more money and time trying to be cheap.... As usual!!!! Thank you for posting this video.

You definitely didn't lie about the difficulty of getting the crimped part off the existing exhaust. I had to cut it on both sides like yours. Also, instead of buying a pipe spreader I brought the old and new exhaust to an exhaust shop and had them spread the new until they paired for 5 bucks. Great video, thanks for the idea. Sounds really good!!

Nice! I cant wait to get mine on my 2020. Also, that middle piece on the collector is not a restriction. It is actually the opposite. It decreases turbulence where the manifolds meet and helps pull exhaust from one side or the other. Almost like a siphon.

Especially when looking upwards. I got metal in my eye working on my car and ended up having it lodge so deep it ended up rusting in my eye and I almost had vision damage. Something small ended up being very serious. Saftey glasses aren't hard to use and you'll never regret it. Lesson learned 😁.

Probably no extra gasket since there is no back pressure on that joint that would create a leak. Doesn’t hurt to add the gasket but probably really isn’t needed

Bought this when I saw you got it and put it on my 14 outdoorsman. Exact same issues as you. Had to cut the flange to get it off and used a block of wood and a hammer to open up the oval end of the qtp pipe. Right where the wire comes off there is a plastic plug that sends you under the carpet under the pass seat. I ran the wire there and under the center console. Used the cigarette plug wire as my 12v and ground to frame. On the outdoorsman the skid plate support falls RIGHT where the down pipe points....dammit...so I gotta get an extension. Bout 3.5 hour install but it sounds awesome and I love being able to shut it off to take calls in the cab. My only complaint is that when open and coasting to a stop, the back pressure makes a deep resonating that is louder and deeper than my 10” sub. Did you notice that too? Keep up the good vids.

Propane torch makes the pipe separate from the y pipe much easier, expands it enough to pull it off
