Nicely done. I looked at three other tutorials before this one. I was ready to give up, but you nicely laid out the instruction technique as well as the features of the unit. Thanks very much.

Hi Pete, thanks for the demo. I recently bought an M80 and this demo has come in handy. I want to keep my Larrivee L-03M as original as possible. so no drilling or anything like that.

Slight critique here. Just for those following this thread at 8:24 it is stated that "even at maximum depth..." which is not necessarily the case. The jack can be unscrewed on the other side of the washer so that you have more threads which will allow you more threads outside of the body of the guitar to tighten the pickup jack into the tail piece.

Thank you so much from Japan ! I had been thinking that having the shop install the pickup until I saw your kind guidance in detail. I think I must’ve saved a few thousand Japanese yen ( that’s a lot to me). And I was very impressed by your idea that uses D string for pulling the endpin jack out from the guitar. Amazing job!

Pete Oulu School of Guitar Hi, I saw three videos of your band’s “ Three in the Dark” and found them really nice. I wrote my point of view in the comment window. My opinion is that one from a 46-year-old Japanese guy, so it could be very different from what people of your age or maybe average Europeans or American people think. I tried to be honest. I hope it will be one of useful feedbacks you get from your fans and audience.

did I miss something ? he used the guitar string to pull the end piece thru and in place but then seemed to reach right in and hold the end piece when he was tightening it ? Is that what happened or did i miss something ? also, what if your guitar does not have a pre drilled hole ? NIce video tho easy to follow except the part where you tightened
@peteouluschoolofguitar13635 жыл бұрын
Hei. Sorry for missing this comment. Yeah it is possible often to get your hand inside the instrument. It's just easier to pull it through using a string. If you don't have a pre drilled hole then watch my video on installing a k&k pure mini into a Tanglewood sapling guitar. In that video I drill the necessary hole. But the short answer is dill a guide hole with a small drill bit and then use a step drill bit to drill the full size hole. Just make sure you know what size hole you need for the specific jack. Ps. Check out Three in the Dark if you get five mins. I play uke in the band.

Ok so I need to purchase (or borrow) a step drill bit. And what size hole do I need? I haven't even opened my package yet, as I am afraid I'll lose something before I'm ready to install the whole shebang.. Thanks for the video, and thanks in advance for the specification of hole size. 😃
@peteouluschoolofguitar13634 жыл бұрын
Hello. Sadly it's been 7 years since I installed this so I can remember the specific size of the hole required. But I'm positive you'll be able to check the specification either online or in the manual. Just have a resealable bag near by to put the parts in if you need to open the entire package to access the manual. Hope the installation goes well. Check out my current band Three in the Dark if you get chance. I play ukulele in the album One More Yesterday. Warm wishes

I've had my M1A for 5 years and haven't had to change the battery yet! Only thing I hate is that they do only come in cream and the endpin only comes in that brown/ copper brass color. With all my guitars having crome or nickel plated tuners
@peteouluschoolofguitar136312 жыл бұрын
Hello. Yes it can if you are happy with the cable hanging out from the sound hole. I don't know if they sell/or if you could get a lead with a longer cable and lighter end pin rather than the one that comes with it. But it would work fine with the lead which comes with it handing out the sound hole. Check out DPA mics. They make a mic which is tiny and clips into a tiny holder which sucks itself onto the guitar and can be removed...Hope that helps

i have a older epiphone ej 200 that i have a shadow 145 sound hole pickup in it sounds ok for open cowbow chords but anything else it makes it sound like a electric guitar if you play single note melody lines its really sounds like a electric guitar another thing i don't like it has sound pole pieces you can adjust but with the G string pole piece all the way down the G string is still too loud thinking about putting my shadow 145 pickup on ebay and getting the Baggs m80 whats your opinion can you tame the B string with the m 80 great video

The next time you need to tighten the outer nut on a strap jack like this, there's no reason to reach inside to hold the body of the jack. The small hole that you used to attach the D string to is perfect for a small wire rod, or Allen key. While holding the jack steady, an adjustable spanner wrench can tighten the nut. By the way: This jack design was developed & patented by Larry Fishman.
