Installing An MST Intake On My B58 F30 - Happy Engine, Happy Driver

In today's video I start the process of adding a number of performance upgrades to my 2017 BMW 340i. The B58 engine is an incredible platform to quite easily add a whole lot of power, and do so safely. In this first episode I add a cold air intake from MST to help with airflow and add a whole lot of sound to the driving experience. I am really happy with the the way this turned out, I love the way love it looks in the engine bay and now I have even more reason for aggressive acceleration at literally every chance possible. That’s so perfect man 😎 exactly the type of setup I love too, and has a gorgeous sound 🤌🏼 It’s crazy how massive the OE systems are, and crazy they ACTUALLY design intake silencers 😂 if you’re buying that car, and are bothered by “power noises”… you’re in the wrong car.. The fit and finish reminds me a lot of my APR PEX intake I put in my VW. It matches the finish and look of the OE engine covers/components, and even matches the style simplicity of the 2.0TSi. The PEX version (as opposed to full carbon fiber) is just a nice, minimal, OE looking kit, with the same performance, quality, and sound of every other high end brand intake for the car, and isn’t all flashy. Keep killin it man! Always out here bringing that top quality content for us 😎 can’t wait to see what’s next 🙌🏼 P.S. random, but if you haven’t already, you should most definitely look into the BavSound factory replacement, under seat subs 👌🏼 they’re SO good and look amazing. Sadly you gotta install the factory cover over them and cover them up, but the boost in sound quality, and crispy more punchy bass is awesome

You build the exact same way I do, with that OEM+ (but a little heavier on the “+”) haha, so I know you’ll dig em. Got a strange off topic question, but have you ever had/tried to retrofit a (abs) front lip on a car that’s made for a different but similar body style? Kinda stuck needing some ideas to get this mk7 golf lip onto my Tiguan R, and it’s turned into me just asking everyone at this point 😂

Couple of notes from a person who has had it on their car over a year: -The b58 platform doesn't actually need an air intake at all and its been proven you do not get any additional horsepower even though MST claims its 20+ -The sound is LOUD and its incredible! You hear it way more in comfort mode and at lower RPM -If you plan to upgrade Turbo, you will have to remove this component anyways so not worth the money, but if that isn't in your plans or far way, you're essentially paying $460 for the noise - You can always get your parts cheaper elsewhere other than Kies. I got mine directly from MST for $400, but this was some time ago.

Man it’s such a nice daily! Obviously I need the AWD being the weather haha. So mine is a low number M performance edition so it was quite a bit more than the average 340i. You can get into them for pretty decent prices even despite the market!
