Preparing the surface area before applying the sticky tape with some alcohol or degreaser is important also. Helps adhesion.

Well not really. Fresh paint. Never been an issue in all these years. Surface was clean and fresh without any need for chemicals

One thing i always look for in these videos is how to cut the "drop slot", the recess for the braid. Any leads to show me others succes methods?

I showed it. Drill some holes and push it through. It’s just that easy.

Maybe I used the wrong term. The braid is slightly below the surface of the track along the entire track circuit. I can see where they cut or route the slot but not the recess along each side of the slot. I'm guessing they use a router bit but wonder about ragged edges with a horizontal cut orientation. A vertical cut orientation would be a cleaner cut but having trouble picturing the right tools... Sorry about the dumb questions

I'm in the process of switching over from copper tape (total nightmare for H0 cars) to braid but cannot find any videos that show how to route the channel for the braid to lay in. Do you have a video or can tell me exactly what bit to use? 2 months of trying to get my cars running have me so stressed out. I've wasted almost $350 dollars on different chassis types seeing what works best, and how easily i can add braids to my cars and the answer is none, and not easy at all.

Do you want to keep the original pick up shoes?

@@Homeracingworld yes im extremely sick of having to solder braids to my pickups. Im having alot of trouble getting them to run. My home has limited space so i have to run H0. I genuinely like that scale as well. I actually did just find the special bits on slotcarcorner but i have a 1/16" guide slot. All the bits I see have a 1/8" center pin for doing the recess for 1/32 and 1/24 that use guide flags I think i might be out of luck.

@@OGlohocla1994 well might try asking in the forums or the FB group.

@@OGlohocla1994 I am brand new to all of this but woodworking is a hobby of mine. I did a quick search for "1/16" straight router bit" and got a few hits. of course I have no idea how well any will work since I haven't tried them but maybe try that search and see what you find. I would be interested to hear back how it goes, I have HO scale as well. good luck.
