Nice work. Good quality in your details. My son is vegan and he keeps working me! I’ve been vegetarian for about two years at his prompting, and I’m sure at some point I’ll give in. I’m really proud of him for having strong convictions and living by them - what more can a dad ask for? Be well.

So listen to your son. He's right. But don't look at it as given in. It is a change to be sure, but it isn't a sacrifice. Once you get past the transition period and learn new things to eat that you might have used dairy or egg for I think you will realize that you haven't really given up a single thing and gained a lot in the way of personal health, health for the planet, and peace and a release from endless suffering for the animals. If you think that dairy cows and layer hens don't suffer, I suggest poking around here on KZbin for some undercover video on the dairy and egg industries (this one is a 5 minute expose of the dairy industry: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5SxaIZ9fNR2hKs). In many ways the egg and dairy industries are far worse than the meat industries since the males calves and chicks are killed immediately (except for some of the make calves who are penned up unable to move for several months then killed for veal). The cows and hens have been bred to produce 6-7 times as much milk or 10-20 times as many eggs as they normally would, which takes a terrible toll on their bodies. Usually after just a couple of years (in animals that can live 20 years) they are spent and broken down, and so are killed for low quality ground meat or turned into pet food.

Great job and great presentation. Thanks. A little hack I learned from dad way back in the 1970s. If you run your screws or nails across handsoap (no water) it will greatly reduce splitting. It also works when you run it down the tongues of the tongue and groove to make them slide together more easily. A lot of carpenters of old would carry bees wax in their nail bags for this purpose. Handsoap is just cheaper.

I am just having this problem now, and was looking for videos to see if anyone added a strapping layer for this reason! we have moisture in the walls from the outside, and i'm not even in the house yet :( The outer layer was done by someone else. :(

You should pre drill your holes. I know it feels like more work but if you pre drill before placing wood it goes faster over all

Looks amazing. I actually have an Alside Vinyl siding which is vinyl with an Integrated 1-1/2" thick EPS rigid foam insulation, backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty. It includes fade and hail protection. That would be nice and beautiful on a tiny home. It is here in OR. I am guessing you could essentially just order it from this company and install it using KZbin. Your wood siding looks very nice.

Great video. Thanks for puttin this out there to help others make less mistakes. My only concern here (based mostly on research) is only screwing the top and not the bottoms of the t & g boards. One seemingly informed opinion says to fasten both top and bottom of boards for buildings exposed to potentially high winds, which a tiny house would be if it's towed at high speeds. Any thoughts/experiences on this? It'd be a shame for the siding to pull out. Thanks again for the video and feedback.

very impressive. Two questions: how come no need for air gap behind the cladding? Ive lso read that t&g should be separated by 2mm to allow for movement -- though no-one says HOW to keep them apart! Any wisdom from anyone would be welcome, much.

Sometimes it's called battens, sometimes furring. It's strips of wood screwed onto the stud lines and the cladding gets screwed onto that. On a house it's often an inch thick but it can be as little as an eighth and still work. You're not supposed to caulk at either the bottom or the top, only at the sides. No battens right on the corners. That part needs to be a cavity.

I was just told it all has to come off and be done with this gap. I am devastated! I was hoping there was another way to avoid this.

Micky think I would have pre nailed then installed. Sometimes a brad nailer is better than spitting wood. Another trick is to reverse drill before drilling stops the spitting

For someone who like to explain every single thing he is trying to do or done with any of the cuts, I don’t get why you chose to ignore the fact you broke that piece with the v cut. I mean what you think we didn’t see it. It was such a small detail that you should have own it to show us that even you make mistakes as opposed to trying to making us “believe” that all your cuts are perfect because am pretty sure that after every cut you make you actually try it on before you actually turn the camera on so that you can make adjustments so that when you do press rec the cut you made was absolutely perfect right..

Those holes must be predrilled, even the ones you put in without splitting they will eventually split when they dry out. Your technique is terrible. Screws should be lower on the tongue and predrilled. Screws need to be almost straight in to bite on the metal studs. Vinny 🇺🇸
