As some other people here have said, instead of ChromeOS Flex you should try using the Brunch framework. It's a 3rd party bootloader kind of like OpenCore, but designed for running ChromeOS on non-chromebook devices. It commonly fixes device driver issues like what you're seeing here. I used it to install ChromeOS on my Surface Pro 4, which makes it a much more usable tablet device.

The display issue is down to Apple not allowing the OS manufacturers putting Mac drivers in... So the only way you can sort the issue out is through Update, had the same issue on Ubuntu Linux

You should have used the custom builds that people make to make flex better by adding a bunch of features and quality of life stuff, if you want a follow up video i reccomend using something like fydeOS which is good :D anyway i love the videos and hope u reply :) its okay if not though

I’ve installed Windows 11 on my 2009 iMac, yes it runs horribly and Windows 11 was all I had downloaded and wasn’t able to download another OS for it. The Mac wouldn’t allow me to reinstall MacOS due to ‘server issues’. I don’t really care though as I barely use my iMac anyways EDIT: for the sake of performance I’ve decided to install android on it instead. Currently going through the setup and hope things go well. I was considering ChromeOS flex but decided not to

Is that how the imac display is internally connected, with 4 drivers per quadrant? And that is why chromeos thinks you have 4 displays? I do know the higher end usb keyboards(with macros, n key rollover, etc) fake themselves as 2-3 hid keyboards to windows, so I assume something similar is happening here with the way the display is connected?

apples 5k iMacs are internally connected as 2 displays vertically but i dont know if these older ones are like that too

Yeah im with you there, i have an 8,1 iMac a friend gave me that was complete - keyboard, Magic Mouse (Gen 1, 2xAA instead of USB charging lol) and the remote but it came with Elemntary OS Linux on it, and i already had a Linux Rig so i discovered how to install Mac OS via USB, and got Snow Leopard on it from an Archive Dot Org-sourced retail copy, then upgraded to El Capitan, then patched a copy of Mojave with DosDude1's patcher. Works decent but i will be soon upgrading the ram to a full 6gb, adding an unsupported but functioning quad core CPU and maybe adding a USB hub to turn it into a Jellyfin Server as well as drive a hobby laser i have (oddly worked with the Mac but refused to with everything else i had). I use Firefox ESR as my browser, as well as it works great with iTunes and my old iPad 2 and 3rd Gen iPod Nano. also have you tried OpenFyde?

i actually did something similar. i installed chromeos flex on my mid 2011 mac mini (i had to open it up, unscrew like 8 bolts that for some reason are the star shape and unplug the drive with the macos install because apparently it doesn't let you choose a drive.) and it kinda worked-ish, but that only was just for fun i eventually replaced it with arch linux not sure why you had a bunch of issues (especially with the display, i think chromeos just doesn't like the imac monitor to some extent), everything was Fineee for my install

I've installed Chrome OS on an iMac and Mac Mini both from 2012 and an iMac from 2009. It's slower than any other PC hardware during boot but it runs well. You might be more knowledgeable than the average person but have just enough knowledge to be dangerous.

Sadly, i am a chromeOS user and i have been one for like 2 years now, press alt, shift, and s to open setting's and put ur mouse to the cogwheel, then when ur inside settings, open the search bar and search "display" and put it all the way up to make the resolution bigger, and smaller to make everything smaller and add the resolution. I do this everytime when I'm playing games, (because chormeOS is terrible for gaming) and it always seems to work for me. Also the input lag is the ChromeCast because I have a chromecast and I did some taking and it turns out that you can not change the input lag because chrome os is special. So sadly that's how I know how to work this.

The display issues are not unique to ChromeOS, my Late 2009 iMac has the exact same issue with Windows 10 and Linux Mint (although I tested this a long time ago, so maybe it was fixed in Mint). The horizontal ghost line in the middle should be temporary.
