Spent the first 18 years of my life working on a family owned and operated farm. Best lesson learned was that I did not want to do this kind of work for the rest of my life. Hard on the body and at 60 you are worn out mentally from the multitude of issues related to running a family run farm. Happy to see that you and your family have survived in a very tough occupation. All the best.

Such a well organised and tidy farm. This is what 10 generations of the same trade breeds into you. I hope these medium sized, family owned farms, don't disappear in our constant search for cheaper produce. I buy what I can from local farmers. Easy for me in rural England, but the price of milk in this country is too cheap. Small farms are simply not profitable anymore here and it's criminal. A good farm does alot of land management, that isn't reflected in the price of their produce. Annoys me a great deal.

I kinda like that they used Amish laborers to install your new stalls. They're hard workers and generally have a different perspective on just about everything, which to me made the Amish exceptionally interesting. Dealing with Amish was like going back in time without the time machine! I worked in the oil industry in Pennsylvania and rarely got to meet new Amish folks except at road side stands and occasionally at the Walmart. What's your opinion of working with the Amish Eric? I take it being your family has lived in Pennsylvania for least 10 (11 now) generations that part your family is probably Mennonite or descendant of some type of Quaker group. Which reminds me, aren't you glad you're able to use modern technology to milk your cows? Milking 200 cows twice a day would be labor intensive by hand!
