Installing Electronic Ignition - 1971 MG Midget

This video shows the installation of an Accuspark ignition kit on my 1971 MG Midget.
My hope is that this helps add some reliability to my car.

It’s working well so far. I ordered the hotter plugs with the kit too which likely helps reduce fouling.

I fitted an Accuspark module to the Lucas distributor on the 1275cc MG Midget engine in my 1970 Morris Minor Traveller a few years ago (along with a Burlen SU electronic fuel pump conversion), and it's been very good overall. Certainly a lot less hassle than conventional points.

Hi, Moving the distributor by the sound of the motor is fine to start with. The. You need to use a timing light for correct adjustment before driving. If you pay close attention to how your original distributor and out just install the new one as close to the same position as possible and the car should run. Good luck with your car.

How did you delete the air pump? Looks great!

Hi, The air pump was off when I got the car. The only change I made with that is better looking plugs for the four holes in the head.
