I think going with engineered hardwood also provide more durability for higher traffic area. In my house, we have a combination of real hardwood floor and LVP which we had installed in our kitchen and master bathroom. We wanted something softer on our feet as well as quick clean up in the kitchen. It made sense for us to go with LVP. The main key is complimentary design, and I think you both nailed it.

Hi, Very nice video. I have a question about durability? I installed exactly same floor yesterday, we put a sofa on it and it scratched very easily. How is your floor looking after some time of using?

1/4 to 1/2" gap along the walls, how close to you get to the sliding doors on the final row? Thanks!
@GoldenKeyDesign
@GoldenKeyDesign Жыл бұрын
Same thing - 1/4” to 1/2”. We have a molding piece that came with the doors that will be installed on top of the flooring to cover the gap (similar to a baseboard). Usually the specific flooring you buy will tell you the gap to use but as long as it’s less than the thickness of your baseboard, you’re good!

Nice video. Love how the room ultimately turned out and commented on it on your other video. You guys have similar tastes to mine, and I would have chosen the 2x3 windows as well. I don't see any info on the sliders but would really love some if you don't mind. Glad you made the videos. They are encouraging me to get going on mine.

Fantastic looking floor. Are you sure those planks are engineered hardwood and not laminate? those boards look really thin and thr tongues look gray and plastic. ...just asking. I was thinking about both options for my place.
@GoldenKeyDesign
@GoldenKeyDesign 6 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yes, they are engineered hardwood. These were a budget option so the wear layer is thin but is real oak. Underneath the wear layer is either plywood or a plastic core

Any issue with this flooring ? Also how does it feel when walking on it being that you floated it to install. Looking at doing the same, but not sure if I should do a glue down method. Really don’t want to because the future nightmare but I want it to feel solid under the feet.

I can’t stand the cheap click lock crap. Any imperfection in the floor makes it such a pain to install. So much easier to just slide pieces together and staple/nail down.
@GoldenKeyDesign
@GoldenKeyDesign Жыл бұрын
I agree it can be a pain but it often comes with a lower price tag too. Also certain click and lock systems are very high quality

If you like a more narrow plank look, go with solid hardwood. If you like a wider plank look, go with engineered hardwood with a top layer that is thick enough it can be sanded and refinished at least a couple times. Both should last a lifetime. LVP is garbage and I learned my lesson the hard way. It can't be repaired/refinished, it has to be replaced. LVP is a waste of money for anything other than a cheap rental property.
