I think u did a job I think letting people know that it will expand in heat was a good tip. An dont think Ill b goin with the diamond pattern seen the the trouble u had piercing it together. I know to your eye it will stand out but to the untrained eye nobody is goin to notice. Good job would like to see how it holds up a year or 2 from now.

i think it looks great. I'm doing this on my duck boat to make it more comfortable for my lady and friends if we go out on the lake for fun in the off season. I just hope it washes out easily

It does wash out good. I just posted a video of us bow fishing in my boat and it was full of blood and fish parts. Rinsed it out at the car wash and it looks great.

I sanded my 1862 decks shiny and used the 3M backed Hydro Turf cobblestone color. $110 a sheet from Fast Duck Motors in Astor FL. I used about 5 sheets but CID just gave me a half a sheet he had it came in handy for the small areas.

They cut the sheets by hand so the ends are uneven. Their website says each sheet only has 43 x 83 usable area even though they are supposed to be 47 x 87.

Turn the templet sideways. Maybe shifting to the bottom of the row above will match up or the top of the next row

The foam doesn't like uneven surfaces like diamond plate, no wonder you got air bubbles. I have heard about people grinding down the profile of the diamond plate to make the surface more smooth. Not completely ground down but just a bit.

After seeing all the trouble you have of trying to line up diamonds I’m going with the flat brushed camo look I wanted to go with the hexagon pattern with camo to match my boat but I feel the same as you I want my lines to match and look uniform it doesn’t matter if anyone else sees if I’ll know it’s there and every time I go out in the boat I will wonder what could I have done differently to make that line up better

Hi, you made a bit of a mistake Sir, when using the Weldwood contact cement. It is applied to both surfaces and allowed to tack or dry. You have about a half hour to two hours work time (out of the sun at room temp) then you're screwed 😁. After the two surfaces tack up you have one try, remember, it is CONTACT cement, when it touches it's glued! You can place wooden dowels on the deck as spacers between the Hydroturf & the deck once the glue is dried (after about a half hour) then you eyeball it, start at one edge and work your way across the panel, pulling the dowels as you go. Once it's down you can use a cheap J-roller to press the Hydroturf hard against the panel for great even contact. You glue a little bit at a time, starting at one edge with the dowels, or a friend (dowels are better) keeping the two surfaces apart till you've got it just right, you go from one edge & work your way across to avoid ripples & the dreaded bubbles. Wooden dowels & j-rollers are cheap at Lowe's, Home Depot etc..... Also it would seem that the expansion/contraction of the product might be a problem with seasonal temperature change, the glue has stretchy neoprene in it, but I don't think it's gonna stretch enough. I hope everything works out ok.

I’ve seen other people do the contact cement on both sides. This seemed to work without too much trouble. You still had some time to get it positioned before it locked in. I’ve had a few spots I’ve had to re-glue but not bad. It’s holding up well so far. Thanks for the info.

not impressed with that diamond pattern though my OCD would go crazy with those seams not lining up. how it expands and contracts that much is insane too. over all you did good though man nice job

That sucks the edges are cut bad, not cool to have to waste such an expensive material! How do you like the edge trolling motor, it has good reviews on walmarts site, but on minn kotas site they are all bad, very strange. I am wanting to get the trolling motor and the flooring as well!

That one in the video is the 12v 45lb thrust I think, I actually sold it and upgraded to a 24v 70lb thrust min Kota edge and it is great. The extra thrust is a game changer. You can’t go wrong with either but if you can swing 24v I would encourage it. 👍🏻

Wow after watching more, they obviously stamped that design crooked on the material, or it was just cut crooked from a huge piece, either way that is piss poor and they should refund you and send you new stuff! Did you get it off Ebay or direct from them?

Why didn’t you carefully cut zig-zag between the diamonds to match up the pieces?

The way it was printed the zig zag would have “leaned” to one side of the sheet. So the next sheet wouldn’t line up perfectly.

Just ordered three sheets to cover my 1860. Hope it’s enough. Didn’t know about the edges. Not trying to sound stingy but I paid $130 a sheet and I’d like to be able to use the whole sheet! Wonder why they can’t cut it straight

Not getting the attraction to foam on boat decks. Element exposure can't be good and tearing it out a cluster.

It's really a great idea, it doesn't get as hot as aluminum so fishing in the summer is way better. It helps with the noise that aluminum boats have when running on the water. Wish it was easier to install tho lol
