Installing the fan on the motherboard would have been easier if the motherboard would have been in the case. Everything else you did okay.

dang, you skipped the one part that i watched for!! My build isn't turning on, and was wanting to try and bench test. So following those first steps you showed with the psu and plugs, I would then arc the power with a screwdriver. What am i then looking for to see if the motherboard is working? Are there lights on the board, or will it do anything specifically after i arc the power?

If you have done the following: Installed CPU Installed CPU cooler Installed RAM Installed PSU (24 pin and CPU) connectors If you have a CPU without integrated graphics, you will need a GPU installed as well to see video output. Ensure 6 or 8 pin PCIE cables are connected Turned on PSU Turned on computer using either a case, separate Power switch or flat head screwdriver you should see the cpu cooler fans turn on and depending on motherboard, you may see lights on it. If you have a cpu with integrated graphics, you should see output to a monitor.

Actually it looks like the CPU could go in two different ways. There are notches on the top and bottom of the CPU. I wanted to check and make sure I don't damage it. That is why I watched your video. Time to keep looking for other videos to answer this question....

Nope. can go in only one way, spacing on notches is different at top and bottom.

@@PC_HardwareTechUnboxing_1 There's a triangle on the outside of the CPU locking mechanism. Match the triangle on that locking mechanism to the triangle of the CPU. If you put it in the other way you risk damaging the pins on the CPU or socket. Better to use the triangle than to match orientation of text on the CPU like you noted. You risk damaging the CPU that way.

@@squirrelattackspidy Yeah, usually I note the 3 different ways one can align the CPU...for some reason, I must not have repeated myself for the 100th CPU installation of a 12th or 13th gen CPU on all my channels. Intel has done a good job of making these almost fool proof. However, you will find tons of damaged motherboards on eBay of people who unfortunately, wrecked the motherboard socket pins by following most of the directions...but not seeing if their CPU was seated correctly.

I was going to ask have you had any major issues with system crashes after building with any of these 13th or 14th gen Intel CPUs? because I've been seeing alot of reports stating that they've been some instability issues with them but I'm not sure what they're referring to.

Were you able to get 3200Mhz or above with all the 4 rams? it seems My Gigabyte B660 G. X AX with 12400 cant run more than 2sticks at 3200 it gets BSOD dialing down to 2666 fixes it but a lot to performance is left out on the table. Can you do a test on that? All my rams are Samsung Die Crsair Vengence RGB PRo 8GB sticks 3200 CL16

I am a fan of splurging for a $20 120mm CPU Cooler personally. But I also have a couple of tech channels. Do you need it...probably not. Lots of things would factor into it...poor case circulation, a warm room..running a game or app that has your CPU pegged and you are tired of the fan noise. A better fan may increase longevity, but most people aren't buying these to last 25 years.

Most likely you need a bios update. Every 600 series motherboard I have bought up until 4/12 has needed one to support 13th gen CPU.

@@gregdakid There is a couple of options: 1) Buy a G6900 Celeron, do the update...than resell it on ebay. They are quite popular for this. 2) Take it to a PC store and find out if they will do the update for you and how much? There are no mail in services that I am aware of...though I had thought about doing this...have people send me their motherboards, do the update and send it back for a small fee.

Yes. That said, if Intel were to add an additional 13th gen CPU, most likely that one would need a bios update.

What I believe I meant in the video, I have a tendency to get a motherboard in, make all my different videos...throw in a bunch of gaming videos....than sell it to buy another motherboard. I do this on ebay and in the past on craigslist. In the past, I had sold fully built computers to people who knew me or on Craigslist. Than I actually got caught up in the crypto mining craze...made money there since I had the gear. However, since that tanked...have not bothered and I don't really build too many PC's for people as that is not my focus.

No, it definitely worked straight out of the box. But if you have hardware issues or blue screen crashes, you may need to consider bios update if in the description it appears it may help you.
