Unfortunately I couldn't get it to work :( My configuration slightly varies from yours (but back then I basically followed in your footsteps: i installed grub to the ubuntu partition without touching the mbr one) and I didn't send the "ubuntu.bin" file to c: right after the installation (several months after it instead) but nevertheless the file was created in windows 10 and the boot menu entry was added...after restarting and choosing the new ubuntu entry the bootloader "crashes" giving this error: File: \ubuntu.bin Status: 0xc000007b Info: The application or operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors. I also tried using shimx64.efi and grubx64.efi as paths for the entry but i always failed to chainload to grub... Guess I have to give up and embrace grub in all its might :D Thanks a lot however, learnt a lot with the help of your video!

My Macbook Pro currently has 2 hard drives - the main one for running OSX, and another which has just been re-formatted. I'm currently interested in installing Manjaro (KDE version) onto the empty hard drive. Is it possible to install a fresh copy of the manjaro without installing the bootloader that you mentioned? I plan on choose an operating system by hard drive choices upon startup (is it possible?) This will be my first ever linux installation. Are there any other files that I need to be aware of before writing an ISO onto a usb disk? The explanations in your videos are really really good, and so I would like to thank you again. This method worked very well for me on an HP AMD A6-3400 Win10 laptop with 6gb RAM and 450gb SSD. While windows has remained stable and healthy, twice now, the Ubuntu LTS distros eventually broke after a major update. A week or so ago, I applied the update to 18.04.1 LTS and again, the GRUB menu does not load. Previously, I simply reinstalled Ubuntu, following the procedure detailed in this excellent tutorial and may eventually do so again. However, my fresh Ubuntu 18.04.1 USB install key reports that the same version is already installed. I also suspect that the update I originally ran completed successfully, but for perhaps updating the Windows boot loader with perhaps a refreshed version of GRUB. This I believe is the prep work for and file copy that is performed after the install of Ubuntu, but before the initial reboot (beginning at 6:12 in the video). Does anyone know if I am on the right track here or have any suggestions? Cheers!

My big question, is when you were initially looking at the partitions, you stated one is for Windows. How do you know that? There is no information on Windows that states which partitions are for what. Paleeeze clarify.
@chanwo_opark5 жыл бұрын
The partitions are labeled with their size. The /dev/sda2 partition size shows 31089MB which is about 28GB, which is roughly the same size that C: drive on windows was. The same can be said for /dev/sda3 and 5. Another hint for recognizing windows partitions is that the format type is labeled "ntfs". I think most linux partitions use ext4.

Hello XPSTECH, How would you do the same with CentOS 7. As you probably know, CentOS 7 does not let you select the partition where you want to install Grub2 bootloader. The only option CentOS gives me is to either install Grub2 on sda(master boot rec) or not install Grub2 bootloader at all. I've tried installing CentOS without the Grub2, then sign into Windows and use EasyBCD to point to the partition CentOS is installed. However, that didn't work. Any clues as to how to install Windows and CentOS while keeping Window bootloader? I'd appreciate any comments or help on this issue Great quality videos by the way. Thank you.

@@Shynosure There are few reasons why 0xc000007b pops up. The issue may come frm the incompatibility between your system & the application you choose. An interruption during installation may also causes this issue. The point is since error code 0xc000007b means 'Invalid Image Format' ; therefore, l have a sense that your problem most likely based on your way of installing Ubuntu dual boot method which effect windows as the bootloader unable to read the Ubuntu Image file.

HERE IS is the solution: Prior to ubuntu installation go to you windows power option and uncheck : turn on fast start up. That will take you out of hibernation. Then keep the CD In the drive. And restart.. DON'T SHUTDOWN. itsfoss.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Power-Options-in-Windows-8-1.jpeg Hope that helps aside from that, Thanks for a great video Vinit THANK YOU
