You are installing the cladding wrong. Cladding this wall from left to right your sheets are upside down lol. You are overlapping with the underlap edge, the underlap edge should never be seen. Rivets are not recommended either, use stitcher screws on the point of the cladding.

There are a few issues with the installation of the sheets and flashings that I've noticed from a few videos, I'm a Sheeter and Cladder of nearly 20 years now so there are industry standards that aren't being applied. That being said you guys aren't Sheeter and Cladders and you can tell your workmanship is of a high standard, it's a case of learning as you go with these thing and the benefits of putting your work up for scrutiny on youtube is you get the right way of doing it pretty quickly from someone with the experience. Any of us can sit and add criticism but we've all cut corners/doing something slightly wrong, but as long as you learn for the next time and you haven't really fudged it up that it needs rectifying then all good. Using the kingspan panels I think is a better way of you getting over your "hybrid roof saga" as this is a fully formed warm roof ready to go and solves your problem with height. Though the span issue may not be to regs, is it going to be stomped all over/have large loads regularly? Probably not. Pragmatic and professional wins all day long!

Thanks for the video Liam, and for the channel as a whole. I’ve just one question, do you use any insect mesh at the bottom of the metal cladding? If so, what product is it? If not, how do you ensure it will be free from insects by the time? Thank you.

A great video William, thanks for sharing. I am building a workshop 5.7m x 3.1m, because of space constraints the rear wall and one side wall will be 200mm off the garden fence. I will be boarding with concrete boards and cladding with metal for fire protection. My question is I wont be able to get behing the wall and side to clad so was going to pre construct the rear wall and side on the floor, and move into place once done...Can you offer any advice on how best to do this?

This is exactly what I'm going to do. I'll construct the back wall fully, frame, OSB, cladding then lift it into place. Then same for sides.

Where you cut the metal sheets. Have you any concern about the bare metal rusting, creeping and the coating coming off. Or is that too far down the line o be of consequence?
@smudger3043 жыл бұрын
This will happen unfortunately, and it won't be that far in the future either. That's why a nibbler should be used not a grinder as it doesn't damage the coating.

@pewe3933 жыл бұрын
By doing so you would have an arduous job of scribing your soffit into the wall panels. You could leave a gap above for your soffit to slot into but it wouldn't leave a lot of room for tolerance especially as there may not be room behind the building to mastic the joint.
