Any Recommendations for why the Slant Six isn’t getting spark?

A new distributor might have the same problem. You need to follow the +12 volts from the ignition to see where it is lost on it's way to the coil and distributor. Blown fuses.. missing wires... whatever. A cheap test light that clips to ground and lights up when it's probe is touched to 12 volts would be helpful.

I'm 40 and I have driven Slant 6 cars my entire adult life and the NUMBER ONE tip I can give you is to follow along the entire wiring harness and clean every single electrical connection under the hood right up to and including the big connectors on the firewall. Use a nail file to sand off any corrosion that has built up over the last 50 years. Make sure all grounds are touching bare metal. Its a pain, sure, but to then have the security that everything electrical is good when diagnosing a problem is such a stress reliever. Your car's electrical system will be that of basically a brand new car and it makes pinpointing the occasional problem a walk in the park. Best insurance policy for vintage cars!!

Yes that is what I did thank you! I followed it and noticed the coil wasn’t giving spark to the distributor. It was working for a time then it was extremely weak and then it went to nothing at all. We got it running and I will explain in the next video! Thank you for your advice!

I noticed that you are missing the throttle cable clevis pin... I have an extra... I would have rebuilt that Carb. for less money, and actually road tested it on one of my cars. You are throwing parts at it... Probably would have been better with the original distributor if it was the original... I rebuild them also if you haven't turned it in as a core/exchange. Being young and inexperienced is to be expected... Wish I was there to help with your '69 Dart! If you google search Mopar Restos in Summerville, Ga. you will get my phone number and more information. Later.

Also, Forgot... Looks like yellowed, smelly, old gas coming from the tank.. NOT GOOD for your fresh Carb. and new plugs! Needs to be REMOVED, siphon or pumped out. It could or will "Varnish" up your rings and valve stems if you try to "burn it up" through the engine if it is foul enough stuff! NO GOOD comes from burning that stuff in the engine!

Hey thanks for all the information and knowledge! I should’ve explained I bought this car and the previous owner was trying to get it running. They installed the new distributor and when I looked inside the points we’re an incorrect gap and the reluctor was already smoothed out. Still have all the original parts as they left it in the trunk so I ran to the auto parts store to get new points to swap in the original distributor!

Install the new points at .017"-.018" with a feeler gauge. Simple check after the distributor is properly installed... With the cap off and the Ignition switched on... A small screwdriver gently opening and closing the points should show a spark! That means that your ignition circuit is probably OK! If no spark.. Use a test light backing `your way through the ignition circuit to find the problem. Since you are likely to keep your Dart for a while... I would SUGGEST a factory service manual! They are available in reproduction form online... A world of information for you to use! Including a factory wiring diagram!@@edifygarage

Awesome thanks so much! I figured it out and got the car running just a couple minutes ago! I’m making a new video on it to explain everything! Thanks again for all the information I’m eager to learn!
