I am solidly in the Toyota camp with a Prius Prime. 131K miles in 7 years and other than routine maintenance/filters (done by me) has only needed pads/rotors (done by me) and tires. It is bulletproof mechanically and will do anything I ask of it. But I think that the Rogue and maybe even more so the Versa Note, are worth considering for someone who goes easy on their car and only goes 80K-100K miles before running out the clock on how long they own a car. Buy it, take care of it, go easy on it, and sell it before it rusts or breaks. I think that someone who gets a Versa Note and treats it like a poor man's Prius, could have a pretty nice new car for pretty cheap. Don't floor it even once, and it will probably last a lot longer than the average Nissan, which gets routinely thrashed just like Scotty doing a 0-60 run. Just get from Point A to Point B.

They're not cheap though, around 40K now. I guess that's less expensive than a lot of other ones though. Many people had them for like 300,000 miles.

There are plenty of talented designers out there that could easily solve these problems, IF they knew about them. It's not brain surgery. Clearly an enterprising designer was introduced to this problem and came up with a workable solution, probably in 10 minutes or less. The hard part is marketing and mass production. As a mechanic, if you see a design flaw, rather than just putting the same flawed garbage back in, think of a better way of doing it and, if you have the skills, make it. If not, find someone with those skills and form a partnership with them and who knows, you both might make some coin.

I heard that the weak point is the CVT. Once you get past 400,000 miles, you start having problems.

I had to remove all seats and put sound buffering and isolation. So cheap. But it was a fun weekend 😂😅

Crown Vics/ Grand Marquis are also notorious for AC actuator problems. Does anyone know if it has the same design flaw as the Rogue, and if that company also makes the kits for these cars?
@nathanhansen8802Ай бұрын
Different problem than Rogues. Blend door USA and Heater Treater may have a solution. Try blend door USA first because they are nicer to work with.😅

@@nathanhansen8802 thanks, I had it replaced with an OEM 2 years ago and of course the dash needed to be taken out...will remember it for next time it breaks

my 07 Impala has the same blend door issue...not expensive to fix OEM, but the hassle to do the driver's side can take hours and any vid online I've looked for they just give up on it. Passenger side is not that hard. Either way I need both and I'm not f'ing with it after seeing how stupid it is.

"Cheap piece of plastic" is relative tho. You wouldn´t call an airplane wing which is made of Polymer and carbon fibers and cheap piece of plastic even though it is a big piece of plastic. Products made out of sheet metal break too. It all depends on their design, use case and choice of material. Plastic isn´t plastic there are thousands of polymers.

We need the 3D printing community to come alive with their experiments!!! Many a NYLON & TEFLON parts wear out if you don't lubricate them every so often!!!! And production gets discontinued.....Pivot joints, the female piece will have the retainer bevels worn off....Thank you Honda!
