Installing OEM FUSE BOX For LS SWAP - Simple HIDDEN Brackets - UTX

Today at Ugly Truck, we're making some simple brackets to install the OEM fuse box assembly in this square body Chevy. We used two of the original mounting points, and added a third on the inner side to make sure everything stays nice and solid. And the best part is, there are no visible brackets when we're done!

I just picked up a 03 Escalade to swap the LQ9 into my lifted 85 K30. I thought the Escalade was the most expensive part of my swap, I was wrong haha

I used the factory harness and fuse block in my swap. Put a 02 LM7 from a Silverado into my 94 S10. I had to section about an inch and a half out of the fuse block holder to clear the hood. Also modified the fuse block cover to fit the modified mount. FYI a hot stapler is amazing for modifying or repairing plastic parts.

Great tip on modifying the plastic fuse box to fit the fender. I'm doing a swap and was trying to make something to to go between the fender contour and underside of the fuse box contour (more difficult than it needed to be) Thanks

I’m healing up really well. How did your Dad’s surgery go? Is he up and walking every day? The more he uses it, the better his mobility will be in the long run. I’m still limping a little, but I think it might just be muscle memory…

Man, I love your stuff. I've done more than a few swaps and have my workarounds but my weak point has always been PCM and harness work opting for a stand alone harness and an aftermarket ECM. I've decided for my next project, a 4.8 S10 with a T5, I'm going to make the leap and cut down my own harness and use the stock pieces. You've inspired me and I'm going to low buck it, I have 4 Gen3 complete harnesses with the PCM's so I'm going to lay out a 4'x8' sheet of plywood and start cutting and pinning. I'm even going to use the stock exhaust manifolds, cut and reclock the exits and weld 'em up. Thanks for all your work.

In this case the guy who owns the truck bought it for me to install. CPP Classic Performance Products I believe. It is a quicker ratio turn and its body was smaller. Seemed to be a good quality part. We will do one on the box one of these days. Thanks for watching.

I like your attention to details...I got a ? For you I have 2 trucks 1 is drive by wire 1 is drive by wire same cams injectors everything can I write the same tune from the drive by wire to the drive by cable or what do I have to change with hp tuners just disable the eletric throttle pedal

I don't have any experience with hp tuners myself but I know when this is done the guy that we send our ecm's to would program them for whichever you are using. You end up having to change some wiring at the ecm connector to make this happen. Let us know how it goes either way. Thanks

When building your harness from the factory, what sizes of loom did you use?

I enjoyed your video of installing the OEM Fuse Box in the Square Body. However, I was curious if you had done this same install on the 1967 - 1972 Chevy and GMC trucks? I am considering doing a LS swap in a 1968 GMC pickup. Thanks.

Hi Jim. We have this same set up in our 70 C10, but we don't have a video on the fuse box for those trucks. It's a little tighter fit than these squarebodies, but the process is similar. I believe the fuse box housing gets shaved down even more, and you have to make sure your hood hinge clears it with the hood down. Hope this helps! Thanks for tuning in! --Emily

Did you guys put the hood spring on ? I didn’t think the old squares came with that style spring or is that a up dated one to prevent someone who doesn’t know how to close them hoods from folding in half love hat use guys use all the donor stuff

Hello Bruce. I'm not a sure when that spring style changed on the square bodies but I know somebody I will ask for sure. I believe in the early 80's they changed. That's something I should have mentioned in video. Both style springs fit when hood is closed either way but the older style did take up more room. Thanks for watching and a great question. Jerry
