Don’t worry about the length of the videos! If other people are interested in doing a LS swap like I am, the harness is the most intimidating part and it’s super valuable content to have someone literally go step by step through it, to show it’s not THAT complicated. I’m interested in swapping into an E30 and I feel like the harness part of the swap gets breezed over in most write ups.

A lot of this is "familurizing" ones self as to the lay of the land so to speak. Each sensor, its name, its location etc. slowly eliminating the apprehension of all the wiring. Knowledge eliminates all fear. Thanks JR, a novice cant see enough of this, rinse, repeat.

I have worked as heavy equipment mechanic for many years as it was easy to go to some logging camp and go to work fixing on anything from the crew buses to machines that pull logs out of the woods. Out in this situation most equipment is old and I fit right in but now this stuff here that you just worked on is ten to twenty five years and that old again. In other words, If I was still able to work as I got crippled up fifteen years ago and youtube and a bed is my life. I can use crutches now but who hires a guy who can't carry his own tools. I am also 72 years of age... I built hot rods and fast cars and trucks, rode my harley till just a few years ago but using a crutch to hold the bike up was just getting too hard. I had a trike as well but I couldn't carry my tools ... I was a big strong guy who did just about anything I wanted to and then life turns a one eighty on me. Guy fell from his roof and would die so I reach out and caught the three hundred pound fellow and it tore his tee shirt pocket. I woke up in a hospital with a broken neck, and lumbar was "fubar" or from L2 through L5 were broken and more than just once. Doctors know a good thing and operate on me several times before they find the one link that would of fixed me but because of all the surgeries, no can do. NOW... as a mechanic if you break something of someones rig, you fix it if you are a decent person but doctors go ...oops. I turned on closed captions so I could poss the video and read it and start to understand this stuff and it makes perfect sense. I loved working and working on old trucks or cars were my jam. I just never got to this part and when I look under the hood, it looks too scary to proceed any further... that is till now. Its actually easier than say older stuff that your trying to get rolling. No plugged up carb cause it sat too long or other .... thank you for making it so damn simple. I have tons to say but your not going to read someone whine about his dicked up life.

I acquired a 99’ S10 for a dollar. Body and interior nearly perfect. The 4 banger didn’t run but only had 88k on it so I delved into the 2.2 and got it running pretty good. Maybe $500 in parts for essentially replacing the entire fuel system. I swore if I had to do one more thing I’d throw a 350 in it, but as I watch more of these vids like yours I realize the LS route can actually be simpler and less expensive than going with a carbed 350! So, when/ if I ever go horsepower greedy, which I probably will I absolutely certain I’ll go LS style and now that I have screwed with fuel injectors and the harness a little bit I really think it is doable. Good vid Man, thanks

Great video! I did a similar install from a 2001 to my 55 Chevy truck. I used the entire harness - still working on it, but it can be done! For me the biggest issue was getting the entire harness off the donor and mounting the body computer and interior fuse block/patch panels. I had to so things like patched the turn signal wires to my new column, stop light switch, etc. What made it work for me was having access to the donor trucks wiring schematic. Still in progress but going great, especially with the Dakota Digital instrument cluster which uses the PCM for most of the gauges. Oh, it cranked right up with no changes to the PCM. Amazing !

I am fixing to do this exact thing. I will be taking my 6.0/trans, harness, ECU, fuse block, etc.; the whole package and transfer it to a square body. The ECU, engine and trans don’t know what vehicle it’s in! Any sensors and connectors I’m not using I will simply remove. (Edit: since I am taking everything out of my own truck, wouldn’t I be able to leave my harness completely attached to the engine and trans, and just disconnect everything around it?)

Yes, that's exactly how I do it, there's at least two videos of me pulling them, harness 100% intact, on the channel

Can you make a video on how to delete VATS for free? It would be cool to keep this free swap theme going.
