Nice video. I'm not sure however why reversed kerfing makes for a stiffer side? Doesn't the kerfed side have less glue area? Seems like the flat side would offer additional glueing surface and therefore the stiffer side. After all, the stiffness doesn't come from the wood so much as the glue joint.

The regular kerfing is not as stiff because the merged side is facing in, and therefore flexible. It it true that there is more glue surface but the inside is open and flexible. The reverse kerfing has the glue side and is not open on the inside, there fore stiffer. Glue up a couple of pieces and you will see why.

Ukulele kerfing is typically square so there aren't really any tricks to installing it except to install a tiny bit proud then sand/plane the sides/kerfing to the same height. Larger ukes can use guitar kerfing and then the installation is the same.
