I like the Dutch speaking part of Belgium more - just beware the driving in Brussels is appalling. People will literally cut across 5-6 lanes of motorway traffic without looking. I visited a fair few of the battlefields in places like Flanders. I visited Mons. I visited the Lions mound where the battle of Waterloo was. Parts of Brussels are a little "grubby" but some of it is quite nice like the golden square.

Although late, some clarification about the ST suspension being similar to KW: ST suspensions was established by KW as its “cheaper” sister brand, but there is no difference between them on the inside. The only real difference is the surface finish. KW uses more expensive finishes, but as far as longevity of the finishes is concerned, both should outlast the internals by some time.

That adjustment collar is for preloading the spring, although it can effect ride height the design is to adjust static sag. Basically altering the stiffness of the spring.
@Jconway6513 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. See it all the time in the motorbike world. Everyone adjusts spring preload to change ride height when carrying pillion. All it does is increase preload so that static sag is correct but as soon as spring is past the preload you have the same weak spring rate that you had before. In this instance he has likely been increasing pre load which makes it sit higher when not moving.

Great explanation on the issue at hand with the damper travel and preloading of the spring on the V-maxx set. Basically you’re “topping out” instead of bottoming out during your driving. When designing the suspension setup for a car, often the ratio between bump and rebound travel is quite a key parameter. In short; your thinking is right ;)

You know mate if you want to reduce the cabin noise a bit you could add some of that butile sound deadening. My current daily driver even doing a few small bits like the rear wheel arches, spare tyre well and the doors and stuffed some foam in a few other spaces between panels and inside the metal structure and a bit of the roof cut down on a lot of road noise. It's a much nicer drive now.

can you do a video on what mods are legal and illigal in belgium?
@daalhoffarm3 жыл бұрын
None are legal haha, he's not even allowed to daily drive this car to school or work. I drove to work once with my classic beetle and police stopped me, they investigated if i was allowed to drive and what i was up to. Used the anpr camera's and treated me as a criminal and they took my license plates and my cirtificate. It was a fully stock, original vw beetle. So no tuning, no big noises of any of those things. So i can say to you. In belgium nothing is allowed. Only sitting on a chair, work andpay your taxes. (let echt op met o plaat gebruik, ze gebruiken alle middelen om je te pakken. Zelfs een dags vliegen behandelen ze als veel plegers.)
@tobiasteuber20443 жыл бұрын
@@daalhoffarm but why its illegal to dayli drive a classic car in belgium? In Germany you could get a cheaper inchurance, when you get a special inchurance for classic cars. In this case you must have an second car for dayli use. Also your max. kilometers per year are lower for the classic car. But if you order a normal inchurance for your classic car you could drive it like every other car.
@daalhoffarm3 жыл бұрын
@@tobiasteuber2044 all is the same in Belgium except your not allowed to do commercial trips with you classic licensed car. So not going to work and school, weddings or commercial for tv, or other profitable income drives are forbidden. If he licensed his golf like a '' car for daily use'' he can do daily it. But then not even other size rims and tyres are allowed. Its just a crime to drive in Belgium, the laws are unfinished and the police takes every word seriously.
@tobiasteuber20443 жыл бұрын
@@daalhoffarm what? In Belgium its just allowed to modify classic cars but no "normal" cars for dayli use? Thats helarious. I thought the laws in Germany are strict in relation to tuning but that is just silly.
@daalhoffarm3 жыл бұрын
@@tobiasteuber2044 you can modify every car, up and till you have a tuv (gocar) certificate. Classic cars can have small changes like tyre size, fiber hood, lowered until 14cm i belive. But still very strict. There must be a European law to set things straight. For example in the Netherlands almost everything is allowed, even driving a tube frame vw sandrail buggy, lowered, narrowed, highly modified.

the problem you describe when coilovers get stiffer the higher you go and softer the lower you go has to do with something called 'spring preload'. basically as you make your car higher you compress spring more tightly and it becomes harder and shorter, more expensive coilovers have separate height adjustment just on the bottom so you can set spring preload and ride height independent from each other, see for example 'bc coilover br series'. your new ones unfortunately do not have this function
@memphis52203 жыл бұрын
Hello! In normal circumstances the preload shouldn’t change as the damper should move up with the spring. The issue i have is that my damper is topped out.
@grondalmicha32623 жыл бұрын
You got it all wrong Memphis. Your coilovers have only spring preload setting which only changes shock stiffness. As the spring becomes stiffer the car is not compressing as much and it sits "higher" but it's stiffer as you tighten the spring Bc has spring preload as one variable and ride hight adjustment which makes the shock longer which makes the car sit higher and not affecting spring hardness

i would suspect the compressing of the spring to raise the car is tightening the spring up (making it harder) the new coilovers will have the same issue. these types are only adjustable via the preload on the spring. there are coilovers where you can adjust the ridehight without messing with the springrate.
@memphis52203 жыл бұрын
How can you change the springrate if it is a linear spring?
@vamphunte3 жыл бұрын
@@memphis5220 kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6mYZIiHaKqpa9U Here you see a partially threaded (like yours) and fully threaded, the fully threaded move the shock body up and down without adjusting preload, the partially threaded cant be adjusted without adjusting preload

if you ever have to do an allignment on your A6. Trust me on this one. get someone else to do it. I recently did it because i replaced the Lower front controll arm on the right side. Tierods on multilink suspension are up top, instead of at the bottom. And because My A6 is lowered it made it super difficult to adjust. small tip, remove the wheel before loosening the jam-nut.
