When discussing the features of the ELT, you lost me after, “it’s available in my favorite color.” Probably has a manual the size of the yellow pages… your favorite color. Good job with the installation.

I swear I didn’t notice that it matched all my tools until unboxing! (And subsequently misplacing it amongst the Ryobi goods…) Surprisingly, the manual is a PDF that must be downloaded and is roughly 60 pages. Which does t sound like much, but it’s a surprisingly large number of pages to go through when searching how to reset an accidentally triggered ELT.

Good stuff Ryan, it'll be a happy day when you can finally lace up that wiring loom for the last time! My only thought ( and baring in mind I'm no A&P ), given the proximity to your elevator/pitch servo linkages, using double sided tape to secure the buzzer might not be a great plan, if it came loose during aerobatics etc that might not end well ! Keep up the good work 👍

I’ll take a second look. You bring up a good point, and I hadn’t fully considered the implications of a buzzer jammed in linkage.

I was watching a video about someone having issues with their elt... And they called their local eaa chapter .. and someone was able to program it... I hope this helps... And why at 5 after the hour for testing it ?

Aircraft Spruce was super awesome and took care of it. Sent a label and ensured I’d incur no cost. From top of the hour to five past is reserved for testing ELTs. (And by virtue, also reserved for not getting lost, I suppose!) It’s a way to allow testing while mitigating false alarms as well as reducing the overhead of the testing process. (E.g. having to notify a local authority of your intention to test.) Thanks for watching! Thought this one was timely with Trent Palmer’s recent video containing some parts about ELTs gone wrong!
