One thing I read years ago in sport aviation magazine that I thought worth considering, adding a plug-in for your handheld radio in the cockpit that connects to your com antenna. The idea is if you have a total com/radio failure you can use your handheld backup and the extra antenna length can get you some additional range. Seems worthwhile to me since it doesn’t really add any weight or complexity and if you need it, well it would be good to have.
