Hey Cap. Nice job with all your installs! I did notice the antenna cable for your VHF was coiled up behind the panel. That will reduce the performance of your radio. Also i would not use the factory antenna connector. Its best to cut the cable to length and solder a good connector. Also try not to zip tie the antenna cable to any power cables. Made a big difference on my boat after i did that. Also corrosion X or corrosion block on all electrical connections is a must. Cheers! Bill

Nice to know EV100 is NOW good for Hydraulic Ram Capacity: 3.1-9cu. (aka 50cc-150cc). A couple years ago when I bought it. EV100 is only good for up to Ram capacity of 50 cc to 100 cc. My Baystar Hydraulic steering is 118 cc, so I had to return the EV100 kit to West Marine. What a bummer! but kudos to Raymarine for making it bigger.

A small but important tip for anyone who may have to work on anything in the future; ALWAYS cut the ends off of zip/cable ties with a pair of flush cutters not regular wire cutters.. Regular cutters turn the end of the cable tie into a extremely sharp point that will rip your or possibly my arms up when you need to get back into the area and do work. The flush cutters make a nice flush cut with no sharp edges. Plenty of cheap options for flush cutters on Amazon as well as better brands for a bit more money...👍👍😉

Great video cap. Your chart plotter is Garmin. Is Raymarine auto pilot compatible with Garmin? Or are these 2 sytems work independently of each other?
@OutOnTheReef5 жыл бұрын
I have not done research on that but the cables are somewhat compatible I just need to buy an adapter cable to see how they work or I'mma try to call Garmin because Raymarine was not very helpful

Thx for this great video. I have a question about the fittings that go into the pump. The pump has the British BSP standards, but your hydraulic steering is the American NPT standard. Are the pump fittings BSP male/ NPT female?
@OutOnTheReef4 жыл бұрын
I took the pump to a hydraulic shop and they gave me great suggestions of what type of fittings they told me pipe fitted so for your different system you may want to go to a specialist and ask them in your area because that's exactly what really helped me

Lots of work to get that installed. The filler coupling on your dash where you fill the oil to was that a factory filler or did you have to install that too?

It was factory installed is very convenient to have it there . Thank you for your great comment captain

A hole saw would've gone a long way to making that controller install quicker and easier. Nice job though!
@OutOnTheReef5 жыл бұрын
Yes you're right I could have ran to Home Depot and get a hole saw but it worked not as clean but it did the job and thanks for watching captain

I didn’t want to be the one person who said the hole cutting was a bit primitive.it did work out fine though and you really do care about what you do,It’s very obvious. I guess that’s why that method of a thousand drill holes seemed out of character for you man...A nice little jig saw or that really bad ass Dremil might be a good acquisition for you...beyond that GOOD JOB👍🏻
@OutOnTheReef5 жыл бұрын
@@johnm5714 you're right and I have a jigsaw but the reason I didn't use it was because the electronics around it I could not use a jigsaw but I did not want to run to the store and get something else I want to continue with the video that's why I did it that way but everything came out great and that whole imperfection is hitting under the electronic but thanks for the suggestion

Well your damn good at making due with what you have- that’s the sign of a good mechanic.and you are 100% right - can’t see it AFTER the panels installed so not a big deal

So, the autopilot works in conjunction with your chart plotter?

yes but you don't get all the features cap , you only get pin point a spot in the chart plotter and thats it, if you want more features you need both brands cap, hope this helps👍⚓
