You really only have to disconnect the hoses from the top of the tank and disconnect the electrical

Is tuning recommended for a filter swap or only if you do the stage 1 inlet?

The stage 1 inlet, the one that looks like a scoop, really doesn't do much except take money from your pocket book. The filter in there is as big as a credit card, and really don't get any horsepower gain from it. If you like the look, then sure I would go that route. What you will get is more airflow with either the S and S filter or the K and N filter. Typically you would see on a Dyno 3-5 HP from it. But if anything it allows the bike to breath a little better than the stock filter. As far as tuning, you shouldn't have to until you do exhaust, etc. The ECU should see that there is more air and adjust accordingly.

@@twowheelsutah If you do just slip on and the air filter, you should be good. Its when you take that CAT out. When I did true duals they still had a tune so of course I did it. But I have a lot of friends that I ride with that has no tune that has the air filter and slip ons.

IMPORTANT QUESTION : IF YOU'RE CHANGING TO THIS TYPE OF FILTER , IS THERE EVEN A NEED TO BUY THAT EXPENSIVE BREATHER KIT THAT MOUNTS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE ????........

NO you do not. Matter of fact it might give you 1 HP. Lot of the facebook groups go in to this. Its more for look to compete with HD. The bike was designed to have RAM air. So with this better air cleaner you will be getting this. The breather on the side has a small and I mean small filter. Again there is a lot out there on this, but for me I didn't care about the look of the $350+ air cleaner. Just my 2 Cents
