Installing the KTJO OEM Drivers Side Grab Handle into my Tacoma!

Another upgrade for the Taco! It's a small one but it is soooo worth it. Gave me a bit of trouble but nothing that couldn't be handled!

PRO TIP: For those of you having issues threading in the top bolt, it's a minor alignment issue. On my 2019, the original bolt hole was angled too far upwards. To fix this, you can thread in one of the bolts, and then just apply gentle downward pressure to get the hold to angle slightly downwards to match the new handle. It's just thin sheet metal so it's somewhat pliable.

When I installed mine, I installed a rivet nut for the lower screw. I got mine in less than 10 days.

Nice job. I don’t know of any company that creates a product that pisses off 100 percent of the customer base. Every review that I have see the person had a tough time installing the grab handle. Good job KTJO.

Seems to be the going polls on it yeah, but I will say that post install frustration….I do really enjoy the handle😅 just gotta be a personal decision on whether or not to put up with the BS I guess

Thanks for posting the video! Couple questions: from when you completed your order with KTJO, to it arriving at your doorstep, how long did it take for you to get it; and was there any update/communication/tracking sent to you?

It took about three weeks to get it after order, and I did get tracking info however I do not believe it updated with live location, just that it sent. Sorry it took so long to reply, i've been out of internet signal for a few weeks now.

Had the same install issues on my 17 trd o/r. Took about an hour plusish. I watched a few yt vids before buying. I'm happy with the install, but if I had any idea it was gonna be such a PITA I would've just passed and lived with no handle oem.

Yours s a version 1 and I see a lot of videos of installation where people had issues with bolts lining up. I ordered and received a version 2 with used a rivet and bolt for lower attachment. Have not installed it yet but hope to do so tomorrow. Mine took about a week from order to delivery.

My order has been in “pre-shipment” status for for 50 days now. Attempt contact many times for update but not a single response. So pissed. How long did it take for your order to arrive?

It is amazing, I really do like it a lot. I can totally put out an update now that I have driven with it for a little while, however it may take a little bit for me to get it out. Visibility isn't all too terrible, I got used to having it in my peripherals pretty quick, and I would give up the slight change in visibility for not having to grab my steering wheel to get in. I do not believe I paid that much for shipping, however I did buy it back in December I believe, I think I paid about half that for shipping, however that's a guess without looking up a receipt. Now it was the complete opposite 4 me I got the top bolt 2 tighten but not the bottom. It's a complete pain in the ass! Has me so stressed out ! Do u have any suggestions?

Unfortunately not really. Once i figured out what direction the pressure was coming from with the "A" Pillar in place, I just had to push on the pillar with one hand and slowly thread the screw with the other. The bottom bolt took a lot of finesse considering you have to use the supplied brass clamp. You might be able to use a dab of hot glue to help hold it in place if its alignment is what's keeping you from getting the screw in. I will say though, when you do install it fully, if you ever have to take it back off it goes back on easier the second time. I apologize that it too so long to respond to your comment, and I am sure the screw is in by now. If not, I hope this helps. Good luck!

@@kennethjames8314 Center the clip nut on the metal by running a bolt through and then taping the clip nut down. Mock up the pillar and handle, send the hardware and bolt through the handle and pillar but don't have the handle set in the pillar -- just leave it hanging as you work on the bottom bolt and you should be able to pretty easily get it to bite on the clip nut. Once you have that, you can set the handle in and throw the top bolt in.

I did look into that before buying it, and as far as I could tell from other reviews and talking to a KTJO representative, the handle should not be in the way of the airbag at all. The passenger side has the same handle stock, and determined that it wouldn't be an issue on the drivers side

True true, but ill say again what I mentioned above (sorry for repeating......) I think its worth it for the convenience of it. It also gives me a place to mount my gopro when driving and filming out the drivers window

Yep, it’s a mild struggle to get all of the tabs to align just right but they will and the cap will stay in

I got my grab handle and inspect it, missing screw, and handle cover scratch up, I email them she said the handle new and it was inspect by 3 people, yea right, she said sent it back and they inspect it, and it be 20% restocking fee, plus I have paid for shipping it back it another $20, I told her just sent me screw and cover, they give me run around for screw that they probably have laying around, so think about it when you buy from KTJO. It wrost company

I am sorry that that was your experience bro, I did not have the same experience however I did not need any customer service. My A pillar however did require some effort to get it to fit correctly, so it wasn’t a perfect fit, however once I figured out the angle it wasn’t too bad. I hope your new parts arrive without issue
