Are the RNC Legend cranks the lightest, strongest cranks ever made?!
rncbmx.com/pro...
Coming in at right around 14 ounces depending upon config, the RNC Legend cranks are an insanely light new crankset. They are made from Maraging Steel 300 which is also used on some of wildest applications on the planet. There is so much to say about this metal alone, but just know that it is the real deal and I'm excited to try these cranks out!
If you want to buy anything at all from RNCBMX.com use the code "BRANT" to save 10% and help me out at the same time.

I feel much better seeing you hammering the bearings for the bottom bracket! I thought i was setting my bike wrong! Thanks man!

This way I’m just tapping and not all out hammering. I’d still recommend using a bearing press any time it’s possible to

Ahhh someone who actually uses the bottom bracket spacer 👏 so many people just throw that thing out and then always wonder why their cranks come lose or their bearings need replaced...

I've never used that spacer,, never had any issues so idk 🤷‍♂️
@frickinpope
@frickinpope 10 ай бұрын
@adamortiz5846 not using that spacer side loads the bb bearings. Causes them to wear out faster and is one of the main reasons people's profile cranks come loose and always need tightened. Cranks with pinch bolts don't have that issue as often cuz they don't require constant side pressure from the bolt to keep them tight.

Just some info for you. Maraging steel heat treated properly and the right allpys have better strength to weight ratios then titanium. But some limitations on making a loghter frame rhen a ti frame for freestyle. These cranks are probably close to the limit of how light you could go with maraging steel but i bet theyre not quite as stiff due to shape. I have a few other parts planned using maraging steel myself. Working on some business plans to then fund those business plans. But 2000MPa or around 300k psi. Vs 4130 post weld heat treated like odyssey is around 1000 maybe 1200 at best. Its literally almost twice as strong.

A big punch or even a deep well socket can be used to hit the removal tool once it is inside the bottom bracket. Rather than hitting the crank arm itself

Tbf they'd also probably never break for most people. Maraging steel is stupid strong. And 22mm spindles even ti take a beefy rider who goes hardcore to bend.

With the bottom bracket spacers. What about placing them on the spindle and wrapping the joints with electrical tape?

Putting aside some of the negativity surrounding RNC, my complaint about any of the Cranks is that Spindle & I really feel like Ryan is shooting himself in the foot a bit. Deviating from industry standard has a history of not going particularly well unless you're a larger more established company (Think Fly Bikes Spanish BB) I'm positive there will be people that want RNC Cranks but cant afford to buy a Sprocket, Cranks & BB to do so. Also wondering how easy are the 24mm Bearings to track down? What if Ryan stops with RNC again? What if he decides actually going for 24mm instead of 22mm or 15/16" wasnt the play & makes the swap to an industry standard spindle size? I get the feeling Ryan wouldn't stock those Bearings longer term. Whilst all that is just negativity in a comment haha. I feel like it does need to be said. Otherwise I do think he's onto something. Look at the Car, Motorbike, MTB Industry as examples! There's absolutely a place for bespoke, unique, OTT Products with ridiculous price tags. He's definitely filling a niche right now!

@@SFletcherson 15/16" not 24mm. Ryan went out of his way to make his Cranks different by making them exactly 24mm.
