Wow, those quieting sheets and the insulation have made a big difference! If the truck cab does not have that in the flooring, you may find a home for the leftovers from the extra box. PS, it sure sounds as if you are more out of breath than you were a couple of years ago. It has come on gradually, but I was rewatching a fav older video, and it is very noticable. I know that you pour so much of your time and effort into making life better for your beloved Elizabeth, but do take care of your health needs too. Keepinng you both in my prayers.❤❤

I just love these videos. You give such detailed information on how it's done with the little side bars. You missed your calling, Sir. You should have been a teacher. But did you know that at a lot of Virginia high schools, they have night classes for adults and would probably love to have you on staff teaching a carpentry/all around DIY class. I always learn new things watching you. ❤❤❤

Yes, I have been a teacher all my life - in character, not in vocation. I love to teach! In my younger days I taught friends how to technical rock climb and fly a hang glider. I taught lessons on trombone (professionally) for a few years. I love to preach and teach the Bible. I love public speaking. I am a trainer for Thrive Life conventions, etc, etc. But taking on teaching at a high school, especially at age 67, just sounds like a J.O.B! I have no interest in that. I would prefer to just keep teaching on You Tube, at church, and at Thrive Life conventions, because I can do that IF and WHEN I want to without a commitment to the "daily grind." 😊

You would never know that it was a U-Haul box truck. I rented one of those once a s it was loud driving it. Amazing with all the insulation the difference. The outside looks fantastic.
@notanomad93204 ай бұрын
Nicely done, I've used a similar product called Dynamat extreme for quieting an onboard generator but the material is expensive and heavy. I think anytime your doing a major conversion like this one needs to be careful with the weight which can affect the handling of the truck. Good tires are critical but also running the proper pressure is key to avoid blowouts. Most RV people recommend replacing tires every 5-6 years no matter how good the tread looks. When your finally finished, you might want to weigh the truck. Good luck!
@LaLadybug20114 ай бұрын
Luckily this truck is a U-Haul - which should have an excellent, heavy-duty frame/base/axels because it was intended to have thousands of pounds inside it.
@LiveSimpleLiveFree4 ай бұрын
This is a Uhaul moving truck. It's designed to carry up to 10,000 pounds payload. I don't think I need to worry about overloading it. The handling will not be affected. But... gas milage might suffer with too much weight in it!

We can still have 400 maybe 600 watts. Between the solar and the engine charging and the shore power to charge the solar generator, we will power all our small electrical items and my CPAP. You said the raised squares on the floor are access panels. What are they access to and won't you possibly need that access at some point? I expected you to make a way to raise the floor above them, though how I don't know since you are going to be building cabinets on top on one side, and possibly storage on the other side. Do you have access to those areas from underneath? The noise reduction in the cab is noticeable.
@LiveSimpleLiveFree4 ай бұрын
Those access panels are above the wheels, and I have no idea why! Just like any car, the wheels are accessible from underneath. I can see any reason for them being there. And yes, there will be cabinets above those panels, and I left no access to them.

@@LiveSimpleLiveFree I am still concerned. Talked to my husband who has some experience with truck repair. He said it could access the top of the shocks; there could be bolts at the top that are not accessible from below. Why did you chose sheep wool for insulation over stryrofoam which a lot of builders use?
@LiveSimpleLiveFree4 ай бұрын
Havelock wool is superior to Styrofoam in several ways. First and foremost, it is much better at providing additional soundproofing. Styrofoam has no sound deadening properties at all. Also, since it's all natural, there is no off-gassing of chemicals like you would get from Styrofoam or fiberglass.
