Haha, it's terrifying, but the good thing is that the snorkel covers the holes and it's not like it's ever coming off, so... :D

Since it is an oblong hole.. you would have done better to have used a proper hole saw blade(s). marking the centers of what the lower circle would be, similarity in the top circle. By the looks of the shapes, we would start with the lower hole which leaves the upper hole [should] with a bit more metal from the center drill hole, allowing you to carefully lean the hole-saw towards the top and left of the metal a tad bit more so it didnt catch on the lip of metal as the saw blade entered back into the metal itself. you could then use an mini die grinder or air saw to trim the rest which should be a minimum effort.. Follow the rest of the instructions. The problem with the Jigsaw is the large stroke on that reciprocating motor.

Yeah, that would have worked better. Kind of limited by the tools I had on hand. But it worked, :D.

Just wondering, why didn’t you just trim the saw blade to make it shorter?
@AllThingsOverlanding5 ай бұрын
Haha, because I didn't think of that. That's actually a really smart idea. We tried a dremel a bit too but it kept snapping blades. It really wasn't too much cutting and we were able to do probably 2/3rds of it with the longer blade. Good thinking though! Where were you when I was doing the install? :D

Thanks! I love what they did with this snorkel. Looks great on the truck in my opinion.

Absolutely! It’s hit or miss with how snorkels look on rigs. They nailed it for your Nissan!

from what I understand the snorkel is not for water crossing, but to prevent sand intrusion
@AllThingsOverlanding5 ай бұрын
It can help prevent some of the dust and sand that your normal intake picks up lower if you're following other traffic, so that's a benefit, but where I live, it's primarily for deeper water crossings as a bit of insurance in case you dip into deeper water crossing a river or deep creek.

A pre-filter on both the snorkel head and on the cone filter are for the sand. The snorkel itself is for deep-water crossings. I know because I have a snorkel on my Xterra & have done deep-water crossings.
