Installing throttle on 212cc predator pt2

Hooking up a throttle on a minibike for my buddy. This is a good way to make your own throttle for minibikes, go karts or anything with a similar setup.

probably easiest to get a new carb. or check ombwarehouse or nrracing to see if there are replacement parts.

So how do you hook the cut off cable to the engine ?

There is the little barrel with a screw on top that you loosen up and stick the cable through the little hole and then you tighten the little phillips head bolt and it pinches down on the cable and holds it in place.

On the 212cc predator motor is the start arrow choke on? And run arrow choke off?? Because I have a mini bike with a 5.5 Honda motor on it and run is choke on and Start is choke off! If someone would plzzzzz let me know.

yes, to start it put the lever towards arrow, when it starts put it to run.. then go tear up the streets.

Ok. It was pretty cold here in Ohio today. Cuz I turned the choke lever to run and turned the fuel valve to on and let it run for a good 5 plus mins and when I went to move the choke lever back to the start pozision it shutoff.

most likely a plugged jet in the carb or an air leak somewhere between the carb and the engine.. if the motor has been sitting for a bit its probably a plugged jet.. do a carb clean and you should be good to go..

This is my 3rd time running it to break the motor in. I just got the motor Brand New from harbor freight on the 1st on December

Ok so I didn't remove the governor I just attempted to run the throttle cable directly to the governor lever, but once I tightened up the screw that holds the throttle in place, it won't snap back like it should.. can anyone let me know what I'm not doing right?

you cant connect ur throttle cable to the govornor arm directly.. you can make the lil piece here that i showed and then you wont have to deal with the govornor lever at all.

Do i need to remove the governor to put this on my kart? I bought a kart and when i push the pedal , the throttle cable attaching plate moves but my engine does not give acceleration. What can be the problem?

I bought it from someone online and the engine sounds good , nothing sounds bad . The kart did not come with a driver belt that fit so the motor cant spin the wheels but the actual motor works and spins . But like i said im not sure why when i press on pedal and the throttle attaching plate moves like its suppose to , the engine dont give power or a roar . Please help me . I dont see the carburetor move

And i dont know if the previous owners removed the governor, so im not sure if its safe to add the throttle in the video if in case my engine still has the governor. Please help!!

This is for a motor with the governor removed.. . I've seen people take off the governor arm or tie it back and then do this.. but I recommend to fully remove govornor from inside of motor and plug the hole and all that good stuff.

Juan Lopez basically if you remove the governor your motor can and will overrev. It will cause valve float and you can drop a valve or break a rod or rod bolt. That's pretty common if you hold it wide open for more than 5 to 10 seconds at really high rpm.. if you remove governor I would recommend at least putting better valve springs,retainers,flywheel and rod in your motor.. then they will last quite a while.. those are the main weak links in an unrestricted motor.. but I have a few buddies that have ran ungovorned motors for quite some time without blowing them up and without all the add on parts but you just don't wanna hold it at full speed for more than a few seconds.. but you can go to places like nrracing or omb warehouse online and buy a stage 2 or 3 kit that would help support an ungovorned motor.. in one of my videos I have a vid of what happens to ungovorned motors when you rev em to the moon for too long..

I replaced my stock carb & filter with a bored carb & paper filter. The new carb does not have a spring on top (like the orig had) which brings it back to idle when I let off the gas. With the new carb installed, this rod you're bending keeps the carb at full bore. Gov is NOT removed. When I apply pressure on the rod to keep the carb at idle, everything works as it should when I apply throttle. So can I use this same method you did in this video, to fix my problem & get on with my life??

Steve C. yes you can for sure just use springs to make the throttle return to idle when you let off the throttle. you can also drill a tiny hole in the plastic throttle piece that the rod goes in and connect a spring in that and connect it somewhere that it will be pulling the throttle back to the idle position at all times.
