Thomas is right about military track changes. They just disconnect the old tracks, lay the new ones out on the ground connected to the old and drive from one track to the other. It's a slick operation.

Mike, you said recently that you were doing shop work because it was too wet to work out side ,we`ve had some bad weather over here to, heavy rain showers and winds gusting to 50/60 mph. So I called on my 83yrs old neighbour to see if she needed anything from the superstore..............she did.............................so I gave her my list.....................no point in both of us going out in such terrible weather. Oh! the video, 👍👍👍

When you expand the shop consider adding tie down points in the floor similar to what frame shops use to tie to, winch off of etc. Also consider looking at Ron Pratt's You Tube channel re using one of the winch's on your trucks to do side or angular pulls. Allowing you to position a truck where you need to to winch from inside or outside the shop.

MBTS is always a good time in the shop. The gantry crane is the ticket. The idler wheel as a pulley made quick work of those heavy tracks.

That was a score on those rails & pads. Look like heavy-duty grousers too. Now here’s the plan: Bang your old shoes off your scrap rails. Get some weld-on grouser bar. Make MBTS, Captain Kleeman, and NYA Milennial spend a few days cutting and welding on those pads to bring ‘em back to new specs. It will (in theory) keep those three out of trouble for a few days AND when the time comes for new rails you can watch Todd’s face when you tell him that you won’t be needing any new shoes. That’s a Win-Win!

As they wear out into the pins and bushings, I think about some poor slob that is just getting by with a machine that has three times the hours on it and could swap with you to get another three years of bumping rocks and stumps on his place.... meaning you could put the old ones on market place and some other guy get the last of the good left out of them as well. You and Aaron are a great team as it always shows

I was under the impression that you do one track at a time. That way you can still move the dozer to make it easier. Super important if it is sitting on a grade.

Normal blokes that fit tracks, generally wrap a rope or chain around the final drive and use that to pull the track on and it all lines up easier, but I suppose you guys like to do things the hard way !! 🤗
@blairarthur3022 жыл бұрын
that's exactly how we use to do are Leopard 1 tanks
@young119842 жыл бұрын
Would have been the logical thing to do if the dozer was turned around though
@willenenable51492 жыл бұрын
@@young11984 doesn't matter what position the machine or tractor is in, as you feed the rope or chain along underneath the bottom rollers or road wheels, then come around the idler wheel, across the top rollers and then wrap the rope around the final drive hub, start the machine up and engage the final drive and pull the track back onto the machine. The hardest part can be fitting the link pin in !! EASY PEASY !!!!! 🤗
@tylerreed92522 жыл бұрын
That's how we have done it in the past.

Who makes up these rules that your way is "normal"? There's more than one way to skin a cat, or in this case, a John Deere.
@jasoncampbell55182 жыл бұрын
I know everyone on the net is a expert. If you was in your new shop or was outside the easiest why I've seen it done is to droped the tracks then line the replacement tracks up to the end. Then drive the Dozer onto the new tracks. Then hook a come along onto something and pull the track on using your bar to skip over the rear sprocket. But it's on there and that's what counts. Nice job !
