Nice work John. In my 20+ years in the industry I have not yet come across an insulation installation that complies with the requirements of the BCA, Section J, J1.2. Missing insulation and large gaps are all too common.

I have a question regarding retrofitting loose fill brick cavity insulation. My house has a shallow subfloor with timber joists, timber floorboards. etc over dirt (with concrete footings for walls, no slab). Built in late 60's. It has a lot of brick vents just below the floor level to ventilate the subfloor to prevent termites etc. and this has worked well (never had any termite damage). However, I'm wondering what to do about cavity fill insulation. If I just filled up the cavities as they are now, it would completely block the subfloor vents and would spill into the subfloor. One idea I had was to break a big enough hole through the brick vents and fill the cavity above and around the brick vents with expanding foam, so that it would prevent the loose insulation from reaching the brick vents, but still allow air to pass through the vents into the subfloor. Have you ever dealt with a situation like this before?
