Lol I remember when I was a kid, I installed the public beta build of Windows 8 on the family computer. Little did I know that since it was running Vista and no direct upgrade path is possible between Vista and 8, it ended up doing a clean install. As you can probably imagine, my dad was PISSED

I once used a beta build of windows 8 that used the Aero theme from windows 7. Not very impressive, but the laptop I was using it on couldn't use Aero on either Vista or 7. The fact that it could on this specific Windows 8 build was pretty sick in my opinion.

Let me explain the things with 8102 and 8250. The aero you see on 8102 is normal, you don't need drivers to get aero working as DWM (Desktop Window Manager) was forced since build 7790. I know you mentioned that the version of Consumer Preview you got is modified, but the version you got is HEAVILY modified, it includes things like activation releated stuff, the timebomb removed (If you don't see the "Evaluation copy." text in the watermark, it means it is debombed and is able to be activated.), included software (which is why WinRAR was included.), the Russian language and setup having the purple background color.

The Consumer Preview builds are actually not one of the last builds to be released for the Windows 8 Betas as there still were the Release Preview Builds before the release of Windows 8 and if I remember right even Release Preview still had Aero Glass effects
