Excellent video even three years on. I normally use NAT for the main connection to my router/Internet from the DC and then add a dedicated VMnet for the local LAN for any connected devices. This way also requires 'Remote access > Routing' to be added as a server role too when installing ADDS, DHCP and DNS.

Great work, I have followed the pfsense setup and did the Server2016 with a Win10 device and are all working as they should be in a network. Thank you! Edit: Could you do a File server, a print server, or a deployment server video?

It's In the works as well.. I get a lot of requests for certian videos like pfsense, win server, raspberry pi, and oddities like Debian server installs and stuff.. so I try to find the ones I can make a quick video And do it.. the file server for windows and Linux is on that list as well

I followed the video exactly. The client keeps picking up ip address from the VMWare NAT !

Why does the server still has no internet connection...Yellow triangle over network icon? How to fix?
@VMwareAdvisor4 жыл бұрын
It happens sometimes with installs and setups. I get it from time to time but everything still works. When I reboot it usually fixes the issue or glitch

My DHCPserver not working, can you tell me which network i have to select for client machine.
@VMwareAdvisor3 жыл бұрын
The same network as your LAN but that dhcp server can only be the one broadcasting IPs so make sure your router or switches or anything else on that LAn is not broadcasting

@@VMwareAdvisor maybe bridged mode will work for them
@VMwareAdvisor3 жыл бұрын
@@zakariaao in this lab/demonstration if you followed the setup you need to not be on bridge but on a host-only or a NAT with DHCP turned off.. why? Because the server 2016 is going to broadcast DHCP to anything on the network.. so if it's bridge that means it will fight your routers DHCP.. so you will need to turn off your DHCP server on your router and change the DNS . A lot of work just to test DHCP on a lab environment. So you would change the NAT to not broadcast DHCP in vmware virtual Network editor and then make sure your DHCP server and your client PC are on the same NAT network. By default it's vmnet8

I tried a similar tutorial earlier today and ran into a bunch of problems. I am using vmware workstation player (the free one), so that might be the reason why. I feel kinda discouraged after beating a dead horse for a couple hours, but maybe I will try your tutorial tomorrow.

I wish it helps. I was stuck and trying the same thing for 3 days, 30+ hours. Just followed the step by step in this video, VICTORIOUS.
