Instagram: Joshuwab_ A few people have asked for a more in-depth video behind the process of the body transformation, if this is something I should post on KZbin in the future, like this comment. Again I just want to restate, fitness/ aesthetics does not need to be pay to play you can learn the fundamentals from the people I reference frequently in videos. There are also plenty of great books (linked in the description). If you do like my stuff however and are a male beginner, I have created a paid workshop covering all of the fundamentals (specifically for visual differences)😀 for more info see: transform.brettjosh.com/offer. (All profits go back into videos which I would like to start posting more frequently!) As always, thanks for watching😊

Josh I'm interested in your training program but I have few questions: 1. Does your training program require access to a gym ? Can all exercises be done at home ? - can you write more about what the video materials contain 2. Whether videos present what exercises to do and how often and what to eat or not ?

While your transformation was within the realm of what’s achievable naturally within that 1 year timeframe at your level of experience, I also agree that most physique transformations should not taken at face value or shouldn’t be fully trusted for all the valid reasons you highlighted. Too much can be smoke & mirrors at best, or can be complete photoshop jobs or using video manipulation software to dramatically alter the reality of what someone looks like.

Honestly I have seen body transformation videos where they use a completely different person as the out of shape person or the shredded person. Or a videos or pictures of themselves at 18 and then at 35 and they think nobody will notice. Sad thing is a lot of people don't notice and they get tons of praise and likes

Great video. This is exactly why I don't compare my progress to what I see online or to other people in general. While there's nothing wrong with being inspired by others, fitness is ultimately a competition with yourself. If you're making progress towards your fitness goals, then you're winning.

Really good video mate! Since we were all beginners once, it's important to remember that everyone progresses differently and we can never truly know what exactly the person did and used to achieve their physique so the best thing for motivation is to compare the past version of yourself to the current and improved version of yourself (and this can apply to all things!) - doesn't matter where you are, as long as you're learning the right way to use your effort, progress will be achieved!

One of my hobbies is photography, so I recognized that many of these "transformations" could be done in 5 minutes by changing the lighting … and not even bothering to use fancy filters or photo editing. I'm glad you pointed this out. A picture may be worth 1,000 words, but like any words, they can be used to deceive.

Genetics play a very important role here. For example, most Black dudes don’t need protein shakes to grow a ton of muscle. White dudes struggle a bit, Asians struggle a lot, South Asians struggle a lot more. It’s thus important to note that some people have to work harder than others, and, most importantly, we all can’t look the same.

Really grateful for this channel. I started working out because I was tired of not looking like the guys on a cover of a magazine. i was bullied most of my life for not being skinny. So in college, I started CrossFit and ate paleo for a summer and lost a good amount of weight. Then the Rock’s “100 day clean eating challenge” inspired me to finally get shredded. I ate 1750 calories a day for 100 days and was killing myself in the gym. I am 6 foot 4. Not enough food for a man my size. I got shredded 9 months later after this phase of crash dieting. For what? The insecurity went away a little bit, but I was even now more unhealthy in my brain about not being “enough”. Shredded enough, fast enough, strong enough. I labeled foods as “poison” and “bad” because of these KZbinrs. I train triathlon now and love it. It’s taken probably 7 years to rid myself of this unhealthy mindset about food I’ve developed my entire life. Thanks for these videos exposing these actors, influencers, and juice heads saying that it’s only “hard work, chicken, broccoli, and brown rice.” Now, I exercise because I love it. I mostly eat foods that come from the earth and enjoy my life every day because it’s a gift. Definitely don’t believe everything you see out there! Thanks Josh.

Your honesty is refreshing! I'm all for hard work and showing off said work, but all these illusions and tricks used are so deceptive and harmful for those trying to improve themselves. I have been feeling terrible about my progress because of this bullshit. I look as good as the “more favourable” pics in my day to day life but only after many years of hard work, when I saw people posting saying they’d achieved similar progress naturally in a year or 2 it left me wondering what’s wrong with me. Is it my Test, is it my genetics? The reality is that there’s nothing wrong with me, my body is great. Thanks for helping me wake up and realise this. As someone who’s too old for TikTok I didn’t know quite how far influencers will go to make a buck at the expense of our mental health and well-being. Unless both pictures are taken under the same circumstances or they explain that they’re not, they are actively trying to deceive their audience.

I figured this out when i was first starting to work out and trying to lose weight. I was seriously overweight, and finally decided to do something about it. I measured myself and took photos every week to track my progress. This was more than 10 years ago, i took my photos with a compact camera and a tripod :D. Things went well, i lost 25 kilos, but now i looked kinda skinny instead of muscular and lean. That was until one day i took my progress pictures after my workout, standing directly under the light in my parents garage. I suddenly looked jacked, with clearly visible muscle definition. That's when i realized how much of a difference good lighting and a pump makes in pictures.

Hats off to ya, you look awesome mate! Well done for being one of the very, very small number of influencers that actually speak the truth and push a proper healthier lifestyle. This kind of info should be out there informing young natural trainers of the reality of these images shoved in their faces constantly. Then they will set off on their own fitness journey with realistic expectations of just what is possible. Instead, so many are put off training altogether after they buy some BS influencer pushed supplement (with these now infamous 'before and after's) and don't get anywhere near the muscle mass gains/bodyfat cuts promoted. The fitness/bodybuilding supplement Industry has ALWAYS been full of scammers pushing BS supplements that do absolutely NOTHING (other than cost you money!) I had hoped that the increased access to scientific studies and legit reviews could reduce the amount of this crap being sold. But no, if anything it has increased considerably with influencers now selling their own lines of utter shite!

What I got out of it was a mild case of dysmorphia after shedding 91 pounds. Never was 'thin' or even 'healthy' weight but always *husky* which is a term nobody uses anymore. At age 29 I snapped out of a depressive state (long story), kicked a 7-year addiction to 6 energy drinks a day, then hit the gym. Going from 260 to 169 at age 30 felt great but wasn't eating anything but peanut butter on toast once a day. Became anemic twice, and since then have hated eating since but know it's required. Cutting out sugar worked wonders, too, so that's a true thing. It's okay to have _some_ but keep it under 25g daily. Being a tech savvy integrated media dork, I've always known it was always Photoshop making people 'shine' on magazine covers and obviously online, social media accounts. Anyone with an IQ above room temperature ought to know that's all doctored to some degree by now. You have our respect for even going so far as exposing your own tricks. Others do, too, but they're few and far in between so once again I commend you for taking that step. Some just have too much pride to admit their results are doctored up.

Ive been strength training for about 5 months now on the daily. Some days is great and others is kinda weak. One thing that keeps me going is not thinking in terms of days or weeks or even months about progress. I now think in terms of years. What this does is keep my expectations as low as possible while being able to focus on what I need to do daily. And I have made very obvious progress. It's not stunningly dramatic. But instead of looking like a 190 lb dude who spends too much time on the couch, I look like a 185 lb guy who looks like he has a habit of lifting every day. Went from a 34 inch waist to a snug 32. Who knows what another 5 months will look like? 🤔 But im more than happy to keep going to find out.

Finally someone had to just say things the way they are. Once you get into fitness you low key compete with everyone around you in the gym. What is really not being said out there is that steroids and all kinds of anabolics create those insanely pumped and extreme bodies. You can get them naturally too of course but it will take years and years of hard work and a tonne of sacrifices and effort.
